Happy New Year Slater Families!
The end of our first semester is approaching! The semester officially ends on Friday, January 24th. Teachers will have grades finalized on the morning of January 29th. We will use this time to determine student eligibility for extra-curricular activities. We plan to have report cards in the mail by February 3rd and will hold our Principal's List and Student of the Marking Period assembly on February 14th.

🐘 2025 Night of the Elephant Student Talent Show
Our Modern Music class is excited to announce their upcoming talent show, Night of the Elephant, taking place on January 23, 2025 (still working on the show time)! This event promises to be a night filled with incredible performances, showcasing the diverse talents of our school community.
They invite all students interested in showcasing their talents—be it singing, dancing, acting, playing an instrument, or any other special skill—to sign up to perform! (Sign up w/ the link or scan our QR codes on the posters)

📖 2025/2026 Program of Studies
The 2025/2026 Program of Studies is out! The Program of Studies covers course and graduations requirements, gives descriptions of the classes we offer at FHU, and a multitude of other details. Please review this document as you plan next school year with your child(ren). Our Guidance team will begin meeting with students in mid-January. Please feel free to email, or call, the Guidance team with any questions.

VSAC's Annual Financial Aid Trainings for Education and Agency Professionals
Register today for this year's Financial Aid Updates sessions to learn about the many changes and new norms for the 2024-25 financial aid cycle. Both events will take place via Zoom starting at 9:00am.

College & Career Pathways High School Events
College and career readiness workshops targeted to 10th and 11th graders (and open to 9th and 12th graders). All high schools in the state of Vermont are invited to bring students. Registration opens in early December, and some locations reach capacity quickly!

- Landmark College: Thursday, March 13, 9:15am-1:45pm
- Saint Michael’s College: Thursday, March 20, 9:15am-1:45pm
- VTSU-Lyndon: Monday, April 7, 9am-1:30pm in partnership with the NEK College Fair
- VTSU-Castleton: Wednesday, April 9, 9am-1:45pm in partnership with the Rutland Area Guidance Counselors’ College Fair
Tentatively Saturday, March 8, 2025, 1pm-5pm @ UVM Davis Center and online via Zoom
9th-12th grade families are invited to participate in post-secondary planning workshops. All sessions will be offered in person, as well as live streamed and recorded. More information and link to register will be available in January 2025 by visiting vsac.org/ccp.

Come support our amazingly talented students at the 2025 Night of the Elephant. It is promised to be an evening of entertainment and delight!
End of Semester One - January 24th
We are almost half-way through the school year! Please make sure to connect with your child's teachers if you have any questions about their progress. Grades will be finalized on January 29th and report cards sent by February 3rd.
Principal's List and Student of the Marking Period Assembly - February 7th
February 14th is more than just Valentine's Day at FHUMHS! We will be celebrating the amazing academic achievements of our high school students!
Winter Carnival Dance - February 8th
Our annual Winter Carnival Semi-Formal Dance will start at 7 pm on February 8th. This dance marks the beginning of our Winter Carnival, which runs from February 10th to the 14th.
