Principal's Message
Dear Valley View Community,
During the week before Thanksgiving Break, our school community engaged in many community events. VVMS participated in United Against Hate Week with two walking events: the Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day and Pleasant Hill Unity Walk. In addition, our SAVE Promise Club set up a table where students could create paintings and haikus in the name of peace. Outdoor learning was also in high gear with most of our seventh graders going on an all-day field trip to the Marine Mammal Center! On the parent front, our PTSA held their first in-person association meeting, and many parents volunteered on our campus to help with library, staff appreciation lunch, and rewards activities. Our teachers also completed grading and sent out progress reports last Friday. It really was an action-packed week, and I am incredibly proud of our wonderful community.
Our school thrives because of the foundation of mutual support and caring that we have built. Because of our amazing Jaguar students, supportive parents, and dedicated staff, we have created a space where students can receive a well-rounded education in academics, social skills, and citizenship. As we wrap up this week of Thanksgiving, I want to express my gratitude for being a member of this community where we pull together in support of each other. Where we celebrate each of the unique characteristics we bring to our school, and where we actively engage in acts of kindness and seek to understand diverse viewpoints. Together, we can create an environment where each one of us is seen, heard, and valued.
This week, I am looking forward to reconnecting with our Jaguar family! I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful week with your families and are ready for another great week at Valley View!
Sincerely,
Aurelia Buscemi, VVMS Principal

CALSCHLS Survey - SURVEY CLOSES 11/30
During the month of November, our school will be participating in the CalSCHLS Climate, Health, and Learning Surveys (click HERE for additional info). The information gathered helps us understand the factors that affect successful school outcomes for California youth. There are three versions of the survey which will be administered separately to parents, staff, and 7th grade students. Students will take the survey during school hours.
Parent involvement is a priority for our state, district, and school. The parent version of the survey addresses parent perceptions about the school's learning environment, school climate, student supports, and parent outreach and involvement efforts (e.g., how welcoming, communicative).
Please take a few minutes to complete the attached anonymous survey. This link is designated for Valley View parents/guardians only: https://wested.ugam-apps.com/wested/ts/tf2m .
VVMS Highlights
Be Responsible Rewards Campaign
A big thank you to the parent volunteers who helped distribute the hot cocoa to students last week. We served hundreds of cups of chocolate, and we couldn't have done it without you!
VVMS Staff Appreciation Luncheon - from our PTSA
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Fall Teacher & Staff Appreciation Luncheon! It was our chance to show those who guide and care for our kids every school day that we recognize their meaningful work. With that shift from one teacher to many, it can be trickier to find ways to show that gratitude, but let me tell you, they felt the love as they lined up for an incredible buffet spread.
Thanks to your efforts and the AMAZING volunteers who came to set up, run, and clean up. Everyone who donated and pitched in made it what some are saying was the best appreciation luncheon yet!
