A Message from Principal Laughlin
Dear WIS Parents / Guardians,
Students are assigned a brand new ID/lanyard each school year. Students are required to wear the ID so that in the event of an emergency, law enforcement or the fire department is able to quickly identify a student. Additionally, any teacher or substitute teacher should be able to use the ID to match a name to a face during the school day. We have a large number of students who leave lanyards at home, misplace them or simply choose not to wear them. We have been reminding them daily during our morning and afternoon announcements that the ID/lanyard should be left in their locker at the end of the day. Beginning on Monday, March 3rd, teachers and administrators will begin checking students to ensure that they are wearing lanyards at all times during the day. If their lanyard is lost, they will need to pay $5.00 at the main office for it to be replaced. Finally, if a student has lost multiple ID/lanyards or is simply choosing not to wear it consistently after being asked to do so, an after school teacher detention or central detention will be issued. Wearing a lanyard is a matter of student safety and therefore requires everyone’s attention. Please remind your child of this as we will be providing the same reminder in school.
Sincerely,
EL
