A warm welcome to Arwen and her family who have moved into the area. Arwen joins Te Tipu. We wish her happy school days at SCS.
Congratulations to Lena who came 7th in her age group at the District Cross Country. She has been invited to participate in the Regional Cross Country in Nelson next month. A huge achievement! We wish her all the best for this and will let you know how she goes.
Some of our Year 6's attended the Marlborough Young Leaders Day (MYLD) yesterday with Mrs A at the ASB Theatre. It was an inspirational day with amazing speakers, Mark Inglis, Karen Tui Boyes, Maiden Tupara, Vita Vaka and Jake Bailey. A great opportunity for our Year 6 leaders to connect with other leaders in the region.
You will be aware that the school had to move to online learning on Monday 15 August, due to staff illness. As I had indicated this is the last resort and we work really hard to keep classes operating. It is great to have all staff back and healthy. Thank you all for your support at this tricky time. Please as always, if you or your child are unwell, stay home, get tested, follow the current MoH advice and let the school know. We have RAT tests available here at school if families require them.
Thankfully we have avoided any major issues (so far) in relation to the wet weather last week and this week. Most staff and children were able to get to school and we had no flooding problems on site.
Next Friday we have an amazing experience coming to Spring Creek School, the Hillary Antarctic Hut Virtual Reality Experience. Children will explore Hillary’s Hut Through Virtual Reality. An awesome and unique experience that we're looking forward to. Marlborough Cricket will also be here for the day, taking some skills sessions with each of the classes.

Term 3 Mask Wearing
For the start of Term 3, 2022, the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health strongly recommend that all schools require mask wearing in all indoor settings (where it will not have a significant impact on teaching and learning – see below) for students in Year 4 and above.
This recommendation does not include any situation where mask-wearing might not be practicable, such as while eating and drinking, playing certain musical instruments, indoor sports, where it will have a significant impact on teaching and learning (for example, students with particular learning needs), certain activities such as singing or drama performance on stage, and PE. In these situations, particular attention should be paid to ensuring there is good ventilation during the activity and physical distancing where practicable.
In line with the recommendations, we will be ensuring that the staff working with Year 4-6 children are wearing masks, and encourage our Year 4-6 children to wear masks.

Taekwon-Do
Legion Taekwon-Do is a dynamic martial art, and it is also an exciting sport suitable for all ages and abilities. Classes are for everyone from beginners to advanced levels.
Focused mind, disciplined body and pure spirit through community participation is our motto. Keeping this in mind, we encourage individual growth through a family feel atmosphere whilst practicing Taekwon-Do techniques.
Fees will be free to any Spring Creek School students and to the Spring Creek community. Classes will be Monday 3:15 - 4:15 pm in the Spring Creek Hall from this term. Families need to arrange for their children to go to the hall after school.School Docs
