Easley Weekly Update

I hope everyone had a great weekend! It was fun seeing so many families at our Mathquerade on Thursday.

Kids Voting

This year we are participating in Kids Voting Durham. Through Kids Voting, students are able to cast a ballot on the same candidates and issues as adults. Kids Voting Durham is a non-partisan program of the Durham County Cooperatives Extension that helps Durham's young people understand and believe in the power they have as engaged civic participants. Teachers will be talking to the students about voting and reviewing age appropriate lessons about civics. Easley students will cast their ballots on Monday, November 4th in the media center at a voting booth, similar to those set up for adults. Class will rotate through the media center over the course of the day with an opportunity for each student to vote confidentially and turn in their ballot. Ballots are turned into Kids Voting for processing. Please be on the lookout for a letter that was sent home last week. Below are some links with more information and resources you can utilize at home. I highly encourage you to review the resources and have a discussion about voting with your child. This is an excellent learning opportunity.
