METHACTON HIGH SCHOOL
The Methacton Board of School Directors approved in a 9-0 vote to move forward with the schematic design and plan development of the Methacton High School campus. This approval marks the next phase to develop a comprehensive plan that considers the educational, financial, and operational context to support the district's mission and the vision for our high school and campus for the next 50 years.
Built in 1961, the Methacton High School will be front and center in our discussions with students, parents, staff and the public over the next several months as we proceed with schematic design estimated to last through February 2025. The design development phase will last through July/August 2025.
The Board of School Directors will be presented in February 2025 with the schematic design. If approved, the design team will then move into design development, followed by the required Act 34 hearing, which is targeted for August/September 2025. These two planning phases are estimated to cost approximately $3.2 million to prepare a nearly $200 million comprehensive school campus plan that includes targeted educational space improvements and curriculum opportunities, in addition to improvements to campus and building safety and accessibility, building circulation and energy efficiencies, and auditorium and natatorium improvements among many other enhancements.
The project will undoubtedly develop a flexible state-of-the-art facility that can be leveraged by our school community for the next 50 years. To learn more about the campus planning process, please go here.
