Kindness Council Enjoys Guest Speaker
The Kindness Council had the opportunity to hear from our local Family Resource Center guest speaker. Students learned how the Family Resource Center works for families in our community and were challenged to take action by sharing our upcoming food drive with families and friends. Each year, they see over 6,000 families in Rosemount! The Kindness Council is a 5th grade leadership group focusing on promoting and spreading kindness at Shannon Park Elementary and in the surrounding community.
Would You Like to Honor A Veteran?
There is still time left to honor your loved ones! Students are invited to ask parents/guardians if there are family members that have served in any branch of the U.S. military. This can include grandparents, parents, siblings, cousins, aunts, or uncles. With the help of parents/guardians, students can complete information on the following document to be used in a Shannon Park hallway display. A copy of this document went home in Friday Folders. Feel free to provide a copy of the family member's photo (non-returnable) if you would like to have it displayed with the document. Please bring document and/or photo to school office on or before Wednesday, November 6. (Please do not send duplicate copies of the honored veteran if students have siblings, as all will be displayed in the hallways.)
School Spirit Day: Red, White & Blue Day - Friday, Nov. 1
Kindness Council helps create the spirit days each year and invites all students and staff to participate in "Red, White & Blue Day" on Friday, November 1.
Educational Benefits Application
Families are encouraged to complete an Educational Benefits Application. Your children may qualify! Applications are now open. While meals are free for all students, all families are highly encouraged to complete an Application for Educational Benefits. Your approved application provides critical funding to our school district. This compensatory aid helps increase funding for teachers, paraprofessionals and social workers to include math and reading support. An approval for educational benefits also allows families to receive discounted Activities/Community Education fees. Learn more about the Educational Benefits Program.

October was full of fun in Preschool. We had our Family Night playtime and the children were tour guides for their families as they showed them around our classrooms and shared some of their favorite activities. The children loved introducing their families to their teachers and their friends. October also brought a visit from our amazing Rosemount Fire Department. We learned about all of the gear the firefighters wear to do their jobs and were so excited to have a chance to sit in the big truck. Our dramatic play area has been a veterinary clinic and all of the animals have been well taken care of. We have begun our second unit of the year. We are learning about nature and how all of the changes happening in the world outside impact us. We are learning how to dress for the many weather changes happening this fall. We have been on nature hunts and the children enjoy wearing their “lookers” to help them find many objects in nature.
