Mill Creek Mission Statement: Is to ensure individual success and personal development for every student, by cultivating opportunities that equip, empower, and educate all to excel.
How did April get here already?!?!?!? We will be MAP Testing starting the week of April 22nd. Your child’s teacher will convey their specific schedule to families. It is our “Super Bowl” event for education testing. Please have your child at school and on time during test dates. All we ask is that the students try their best. Take their time and try.
Updated 24/25 Calendar for this year -
Changes:
April 21st - school in session - no longer off for Easter
May 23rd - Full day of school - no 1/2 day
May 29th - Last day of school - 1/2 day except WSA
Our 3rd annual Mill Creek Earth Day Clean-up and Pancake Breakfast will be Saturday 4/26 from 9-11. We divide our immediate school area into 6 quadrants, beautify each area by picking up trash and then we have pancakes at MC. This is a family event and we would love to see you there. Put it on your calendar.
From the Office:
If you need to make a change of transportation, please contact the office in writing by 3pm.
Please do not let car riders out of your car until you see the adults come out to greet them in the morning (8:18). Please do not drop your child off in the area around the school and have them walk up to school to avoid the car rider line.
All transportation changes need to be emailed to the MC office by 2:45.
From Our Nurse:
Cass County Dental will be at Mill Creek on April 7th and possibly April 8th. They will be applying the second varnish of Fluoride to those students who received the first one at school a few months ago. Cass County Dental will also be seeing any students whose parents signed them up for teledentistry.
Here are the teledentistry links to check and see if your student is eligible (x-rays, cleanings, and more):
From the Counselors:
Mill Creek students are exploring their interests and potential career paths in this month’s counseling lessons and Career Day! We appreciate family members and community volunteers that present to our students, and are always impressed by the variety and experience of career fields represented.

From the Library:
State Reading Challenge
March is the annual end of the Missouri State Book Awards Contest! Students who completed the challenge have already had their reward party. The titles that have been nominated for 2025-2026 have been released so students can begin reading them! Current 5th graders can choose to read either Truman or Twain nominees for next year. Twain nominees tend to be a bit shorter and generally deal with more light-hearted content. Truman nominees tend to be a bit longer with more complex plots that deal with more serious content. Either list is fine for a current 5th grader (soon-to-be 6th grader). But students must choose ONE list to read from (no mix and matching). Here is the list of titles students can read from for 2025-2026.
As always, books can be read in hard copy or on audiobook and still count toward the challenge. The Mill Creek Library does not have copies of these titles yet, but these books can be checked out from the public library and read over the summer. So long as students remember the content, they can count these books toward their reading challenge next year!
Library Focus:
This month 5th grade students will be introduced to the dystopian book genre. 6th graders will be reviewing grammar. Both grades will also be giving feedback on changes they would like to see in the library program for the following year.
Donut with Grownups
Donuts with Grownups will be 4/1. Students and their grownups are invited to enjoy donuts and shop the book fair from 8:00-8:45! Students must be accompanied by an adult.
Upcoming Events:
3/31-4/4- Book Fair
4/1- Donuts with Grownups 8:00-8:45
