Senior Celebration Boat Cruise!
All Aboard Don't Miss the Boat
Deadline extended to Friday, May 10 at Noon
Ahoy, seniors! Tuesday, May 21, 2024 is our Senior Celebration Boat Cruise exclusively for our graduating students. This event is designed to provide a safe, drug and alcohol-free event to celebrate the conclusion of the students’ education in District 220. We will have an exclusive all-ship charter on the Odyssey for the evening for BHS students and chaperones. All students are required to ride the buses to and from Navy Pier. Students need to report to the BHS gym by 9:30pm on the night of the cruise and will return around 3am. The cost of the cruise is $70 per person. Tickets are available for purchase until May 10th on the BHS website, at tinyurl.com/SeniorBoatCruise2024.
Capstone Day Information
Beginning this Spring, as we look to wrap up the semester we wanted to allow all classes to wrap up and to re-emphasize the importance of attendance. Students should be physically present on these days for all rostered classes. The only periods students do not have to be in the building are for lunch or a scheduled open period.
ALL classes will meet to wrap up the semester in a way that aligns with the curriculum and expectations for the course. For example, Physical Education classes will meet, and students will participate in BFit activities and complete a checkout process. Resource classes and Academic Support classes will also meet to provide support to students in wrapping up the year. Some classes will have assessments, exams, or other academic work to complete.
SEMESTER CAPSTONE DAYS SCHEDULE
Mental Health Awareness Month
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Since its inception in 1949, Mental Health Awareness Month has been a cornerstone of addressing the challenges faced by millions of Americans living with mental health conditions. Throughout the month, NAMI actively participates in this national movement, dedicated to eradicating stigma, extending support, fostering public education and advocating for policies that prioritize the well-being of individuals and families affected by mental illness.
MAY 6 – 17: SNACKS FOR STUDENTS TAKING AP EXAMS
Students taking AP Exams are not allowed access to their backpacks, and if they are taking multiple tests or have an accommodation, that can mean several hours without anything to eat or drink. For the past several years, the PTO has covered that gap by handing out snacks and water. If you’d like to help out, VOLUNTEER HERE
Can’t volunteer during the day but would like to pitch in so kiddos aren’t hungry while taking AP Exams? Funds DONATED HERE are used only for AP Exam snacks.
MAY 13: Next PTO meeting is set for Monday, May 13th at 9:15am, AT THE DISTRICT 220 OFFICES (the building ACROSS THE STREET from the high school) or via Zoom. If you have already been entered into the D220 system and would like to expedite security check-in, RSVP here.
MAY 15 is Senior Decision Day! PTO members will be distributing snacks and helping with fun photo opps, with optional college or military branch flags.

See Something, Say Something
The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority and we commit to offering a safe
and secure educational environment. Barrington 220 is now partnering with an Illinois school safety helpline aimed at providing students a place to report information that might prevent bullying, suicide, and campus violence. Safe2Help is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It allows students to confidentially share school safety issues via a mobile app, text, email, or phone call. You will notice that the "See Something, Say Something" button on our district and school website now links directly to the Safe2Help contact page. We are asking that all students, parents, staff, and community members now use this platform to report safety concerns. In the case of an emergency, call 911.BARRINGTON HIGH SCHOOL
