World Read Aloud Day
A shout out is in order to Mrs. Domitrovits who organized the 5th grade World Read Aloud day, on February 5, 2025! WRAD is promoted by LitWorld.org, an organization that fosters literacy through storytelling in developing global communities.
The 41st Annual Rockland Read-In was a great success at Barr. Students across the district engaged in recreational reading to support literacy and learning standards through recreational reading. School districts from throughout Rockland County joined in and the results will be tabulated to determine which schools logged the most reading minutes.

Community Events & Outreach
Career Day is March 7, 2025
This year’s A. MacArthur Barr Middle School Career Day is scheduled for March 7, 2025. We will be exposing students to diverse and exciting careers by acquainting them with the working world of our community, state, and nation. We want our students to know how workers use the subjects they learn at school in the real world. Our goal is to educate and help motivate our students to work hard toward a goal or field that they are passionate about.
Anyone who are interested in participating, we ask that they fill out our Response Form online, at the following link:
2025 Penguin Plunge
The Nanuet Black and Gold Club and the Varsity Athletes Against Substance Abuse are teaming up to help support the 2025 Penguin Plunge! On March 2nd 2025, we'll be diving into the icy waters of the Hudson River to show our support for families with critically ill children.
The Penguin Plunge is a registered not-for-profit 501(c)(3) located in Rockland County, NY that works to help the families of seriously ill children meet their medical and support costs as they focus on their children’s health. Since our founding in 2007, the Penguin Plunge has proudly raised over $1,000,000 and supported 40 critically ill children and their families from Rockland and Bergen counties. Our annual plunge into the icy Hudson River at Nyack Memorial Park represents the culmination of nearly a year-long fundraising effort for the year’s families, and has become a hallmark of community spirit and generosity. This year, we are celebrating our 18th Annual Plunge and braving the cold for three local families whose children are struggling with serious medical conditions.
We give 100% of our donations to the families we support. This year, your money will go towards the families of Brielle Gaine, Luke Garrecht, and Zach Dolinsky. You can read their stories here and donate below!
