North Santiam School District is pleased to announce Jamie McCarty as the new Principal of Stayton High School. Jamie’s career includes 27 years in education, including prior experience in the North Santiam School District. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education and Health, as well as a Master's degree in Education from Western Oregon University. He also earned his Administrative Credential from Portland State University.
Jamie previously served at Stayton High School as a Physical Education and Health Teacher, Assistant Principal, and Athletic Director. He then served as Principal of Sublimity K-8 School and Stayton Intermediate/Middle School (SIMS). For the past eleven years, Jamie served as a building principal and the Assistant Director of Teaching & Learning with the Silver Falls School District.

As he begins his new position, Jamie has many goals, including connecting with students, staff members, families, community partners, and preparing for a new school year. Jamie will begin his role as Principal on July 22, 2025.
Outside of work, you can find Jamie on the golf course or boating at the lake with friends and family. He loves spending time supporting his family with whatever they’re taking on next.
