The Viking Spotlight is the part in my weekly newsletter used to highlight and celebrate our students and staff anytime we can! If you would like your child acknowledged for something they have accomplished, whether on campus or off-campus, please feel free to fill out this google form HERE. I look forward to celebrating our Vikings and all of the great things they are doing!

March is here and that means we are exactly 2 weeks out from Spring Break! We have a packed calendar these next 2 weeks, starting with a spirit week this week and lunch activities, and ending with the color run next Friday! Challenge yourself to set a short term goal for the next 2 weeks...whether it be getting to school and your classes on time for the next 10 days, or completing all of your assignments, set it and stick to it! Strive for 10 for 10!

We are excited to kick off our spring sports season this Saturday with flag football and volleyball games. The schedule hasn't been posted yet, so check back on Tuesday for the full schedule of game times and locations!

This week kicks off the first round of state testing for our students. First up, ELPAC testing which is a test that assesses the English Language Proficiency of our English Learners. This is a very important test as it determines if students get to be promoted to the next level of English proficiency. Remember to bring your iPads fully charged every day! Also, here are some important test taking tips below in order to be successful! Good luck to all our testers!

Soccer players and parents, don't forget, your banquet is tonight staring at 4:30pm!! See you there!

The mandatory meeting for all parents of Spring Sports athletes is this Tuesday at 6pm in the cafeteria. If you can't make it in-person, please join us online via zoom. More details below.

Our next round of Viking Shadow Day is coming up on Friday, March 8th! Please join us in shadowing your child in their classes. You'll also get time to meet with the MVA admin team if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. Please click HERE to rsvp so we can plan accordingly!

Last week, Mr. Marquez's and Ms. Jafarieh's classes partnered up with their Viking Buddies and participated in a Unified Sports Bocce Tournament at Olympian High. The students all had a great time and even won ALL of their games!! 🤗 We are so proud of them!

In an effort to help support our MVA students, we welcome any donations of school supplies and/or money. All funds would go directly to supporting our MVA students in the form of spirit shirts, celebrations, recognition awards, school supplies, and more. Checks can be made payable to Mar Vista Academy ASB and tax-deduction forms will be provided upon receipt. Any questions, please email Ms. Scott.
