The Navigator - October 2024
A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
One of the longest stretches of uninterrupted school days is already behind us for the 2024-25 school year. It has been a positive and eventful start of the school year; I feel that we are off to a great start!
Morse’s fall Spirit Week is behind us and it was a really great time to be a Shipbuilder! From the daily theme days, creation of some outstanding floats, pep rally, homecoming games, and of course the Homecoming Dance; there was fun all around. I am happy to report that the class of 2028 (the Freshmen) emerged victorious! This does not happen every year and it will be exciting to see whether the team can keep this streak alive in future years.
School picture retakes occur this Monday, 10/28, for anyone absent on picture day or who are not satisfied with their first round of pictures.
Mid-semester grade checks occur in one week from today. Parents/guardians should expect report cards to be mailed out on the week of November 4th.
Parent-teacher conferences will occur on November 25th and 26th (the two days before Thanksgiving break). Parents and Guardians should expect to find an email in their inbox from each of your student’s teachers inviting you to register for a conference slot. This email will be sent on Friday, November 1st. Conference slots do tend to fill up quickly for some teachers, so keep an eye out for these emails.
RSU 1 students will not have school on Election Day, Tuesday, November 5th. This will be a Professional Development Day for faculty and staff.
Enjoy this edition of The Navigator,
Eric Varney

Unified Literacy is a collaboratively taught class at Morse High School that applies the learning partner model, with students enrolled in general education and functional life skills classes. The class integrates reading, art, writing, field trips, and board games to promote reading and inclusion. Working together to foster a community of learners, who are seen, heard, recognized, and understood, students form lasting friendships through shared experiences in the classroom.
