Good Evening Yowell Families,

This is Mrs. Fiscus with your weekly and FINAL update of the 23-24 school year.!!! How can this be? I feel like I blinked and this year is over.

First, let me say Happy Mother's Day to all the moms, grandmas, aunts, foster moms, and other female figures in our children's lives. I have a front row seat to see the ladies at curbside picking up our students and can envision the ladies waiting at the bus stops welcoming students home. It truly takes a village and I know the Yowell village is full of women supporting our students. Happy Mother's Day to each of you.

This week we have many events and celebrations.

Monday - 3rd & 4th Field Day AM -- 5th Field Day PM

Tuesday - PreK promotion ceremony - 10am

Wednesday - Kindergarten promotion ceremony - 10:30am -- CCHS and EVHS seniors will walk the halls of Yowell one last time.

Thursday - 5th grade promotion ceremony - 9:30am

Friday - Last Day of School

We have less than 100 yearbooks available. If you would like to purchase a yearbook, they are $15 and can be paid for with cash, check or via SchoolCash Online. Directions as to how to pay via SchoolCash online.

School personnel is seeking input in the development of the upcoming 2024-25 Title II-A grant application. The Title II-A grant is currently used to support math professional development through math specialist positions and to support an online professional development program for all staff. Anyone who would like more information on the Title II-A grant or wishes to provide feedback/input is encouraged to contact Renee Wootten at the School Board Office (540-825-3677) or by email at rwootten@ccpsweb.org

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) has released a new Virginia Assessment Parent Portal that allows parents and guardians access to all of their student's state test results.

To access your child’s scores, log-in to your account at https://va-results.pearsonaccessnext.com. If you have not created an account, click "sign up" to get started.

Once logged in, individual students will need to be linked using their legal name, birthdate, and unique claim code noted below.

This code is valid for all Spring 2024 non-writing tests and will be updated on Tuesdays. For example, if your child takes Reading on a Thursday, scores will be available the following Tuesday.

Interested in becoming a CMS cheerleader? Cheer tryouts will be May 13th, 14th and 16th from 5:00-6:30 PM in the CMS cafeteria. Athletes will need a valid VHSL physical to participate.

If any of these items belong to your child(ren) please contact Mrs. Dugger at kdugger@ccpsweb.org. Any items left will be washed and donated. Thank you.

In an effort to assist schools and parents with current information about bus changes, transportation has added a new item on their website called: Transportation - Morning Update. The direct link can be found here.

We will be posting departure times for buses each day to assist parents with receiving their child from the bus stop. Please check this document each afternoon.

We are happy to have a School Resource Officer (SRO) this year at Yowell. You can contact Deputy Mack with any concerns you have with school safety or anything that would be related to criminal activity.
