Cedar Hill Football Rolls Past Midlothian, 40-7
The Cedar Hill High School Football Team found its stride in the second half of last Friday’s season opener at Midlothian. Here's a photo gallery from the game.
The Longhorns (1-0) scored 27 unanswered second half points for a 40-7 victory over the host Panthers (0-1) in the first meeting between the teams in nine years.
Cedar Hill led 13-7 at halftime and dominated the game in the second half.
Dayshun Reese-Williams finished with 12 carries for a career-high 171 yards and two touchdowns, and the Longhorns outrushed the Panthers, 332-118. Juelz Carter finished with nine carries for a career-high 88 yards and a touchdown.
Tamarion Crochett completed 16 of 25 passes for 143 yards and two touchdowns in his Cedar Hill debut. Omowale Muhammad completed an 11-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to Braylon Caston. It was the first varsity touchdown for both players.
Cedar Hill senior receiver Cedric Mills caught six passes for 73 yards and two touchdowns.
Midlothian's only touchdown of the game came on a kickoff return in the second quarter.
Cedar Hill held an opponent to seven points or less for the fifth time in their past seven games.
The Longhorns will visit Allen next Friday. The Eagles defeated Midland Legacy, 61-0, in their season opener, last Friday.

Road Non-Conference Games
Cedar Hill improved to 2-0 in non-conference regular season road games under second-year head coach Nick Ward. The Longhorns defeated Arlington Martin last season.
Friday marked the first time that Ward and CHHS Assistant Head Coach Brice Musgrove faced the Panthers. Both Ward and Musgrove were on the MHS Coaching Staff in 2022.
Cedar Hill improved to 12-9 in both season openers and road openers over the past 21 seasons.
Meet The Eagles
Cedar Hill and Allen will play for the third time in four years. The teams don't meet annually, but the Longhorns are looking for their first win over the Eagles since 1977.
The programs have combined for eight state championships (Allen-5, Cedar Hill-3).
Brady Bricker passed for 265 yards and four touchdowns in Allen's 61-0 win over Midland Legacy last week. He completed touchdown passes to four different Eagle receivers.
Jaden Hambric rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns, and Micah Ellis had 70 yards and two touchdowns.
Allen's shutout was their first since a 2019 victory over McKinney Boyd.
Allen went 9-5 last season, losing to North Crowley, 49-37, in the State Quarterfinals.
Cedar Hill Volleyball Places Second in Godley Tournament Silver Bracket
The Cedar Hill High School Volleyball Team played its final regular season tournament, placing second in the Silver Bracket at the Godley Tournament. Here's a photo gallery of the tournament.
The Lady Longhorns (17-5) won four of six matches at the tournament, including victories over Waco University, Brewer and twice over Benbrook.
Cedar Hill will play its final non-district match on Tuesday at Corsicana (3-10).
ALUMNI UPDATE
Denver outside hitter Jamia Johnson finished with nine kills in her college debut, a 3-2 loss to Utah Tech in Ogden, Utah. The Pioneers (1-2) will face Montana State on Thursday in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Forte Finishes Eighth at James Smith Invitational
Cedar Hill High School senior Messiyah Forte finished eighth at the James Smith Invitational last Thursday in Midlothian, with a time of 17:03.32. There were 120 competitors in the race.
Cedar Hill finished sixth out of 18 schools. Sophomore Kingston Jackson placed 28th (18:16.66) and senior Elgrie Hurd was 35th (18:30.72).
Junior Chloe Wallace led all of the girls competitors from Cedar Hill with a time of 25:41.94.
The Longhorns will compete at Mansfield Lake Ridge on Saturday.

Cedar Hill Tennis To Host Waxahachie Tomorrow
The Cedar Hill High School Tennis Team lost its first match of the season, 14-5, at Mesquite last week.
Tessa Bui and Kyla Jacobs won a doubles match, and they also won singles matches. Alan Serrano won a singles match and also teamed with Alex Piggat to win a doubles match.
The Longhorns will host Waxahachie tomorrow.

Cedar Hill ISD Football Alumni
- Tulsa wide receiver/returner Kamdyn Benjamin scored the first two touchdowns of the Golden Hurricanes' 62-28 win over Northwestern State. He caught five passes for 65 yards and a touchdown. He returned four punts for 85 yards and a touchdown. Tulsa (1-0) will visit Arkansas State on Saturday.
- Stephen F. Austin running back Jaylen Jenkins had 13 carries for a career-high 86 yards and two touchdowns in a 77-0 win over North American University. The Lumberjacks (1-0) will visit North Texas on Saturday.
- North Texas defensive end Zhaiylen Scott made a tackle in his collegiate debut as the Mean Green won 52-38 at South Alabama. UNT (1-0) will host Stephen F. Austin on Saturday.
- Illinois wide receiver Zakhari Franklin caught two passes for 28 yards in his Illinois debut -- a 45-0 win over Eastern Illinois. Illinois (1-0) will host Kansas on Saturday.
- Liberty quarterback Kaidon Salter completed 16 of 23 passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns in a 41-24 win over Campbell. The Flames (1-0) will visit New Mexico State on Saturday.
- Western Kentucky defensive lineman Jalil Rivera-Harvey finished with three tackles in a 63-0 loss at Alabama. The Hilltoppers (0-1) will host Eastern Kentucky on Saturday.
- Sam Houston punter Jadon Cardell finished with five punts for 202 yards (40.4 yard average) in a 34-14 win at Rice. Defensive lineman Matthew Aribisala recorded three tackles. The Bearkats (1-0) will visit UCF on Saturday.
- Texas Tech cornerback Jalon Peoples finished with four tackles and defensive lineman Harvey Dyson III had two tackles in the Red Raiders' 52-51 overtime win over Abilene Christian. Tech (1-0) will visit Washington State on Saturday.
- Kentucky offensive lineman Courtland Ford and the Wildcats defeated Southern Miss, 31-0. Kentucky (1-0) will open SEC competition on Saturday vs. South Carolina.
- Texas A&M-Commerce teammates Jaheim Lowe and Leon Young each recorded two tackles in a 45-14 loss at San Diego State. The Lions (0-1) will visit UC Davis on Saturday.
