Our attendance percentage continues to go up. The kids are working toward Rita's and extra recess on March 21st. Continue to come to school these last few days to push us over the hump and meet the goal!
Attendance Challenge!
Attendance Challenge: If our students can beat last year’s attendance for January through March, they will earn 30 minutes of extra recess and Rita's on March 21st! Our students’ attendance is currently NOT meeting goal set. Please be sure your child stays home ONLY for the following:
Cooling Changeover
Once the forecasted daily temperature is consistently above 68 degrees and daytime temperatures exceed 72 degrees for two to three consecutive days, SMCPS will begin the two-day process of changing the schools over from heating mode to cooling mode for the balance of the season. This changeover typically takes place by April 15th of each year. However, when conditions allow, the changeover will be delayed to ensure the most effective use of resources. Staff and students are encouraged to monitor the forecast and dress accordingly. Dressing in layers as the seasons change is helpful.

Special Education Survey
Parents or guardians of children receiving special education and related services were mailed the Maryland Special Education Parent Involvement Survey from the Maryland State Department of Education, Division of Special Education/Early Intervention Services during the week of February 12, 2024. Parents are asked to complete the survey and return it in the postage-paid envelope by May 24, 2024. The Survey may also be completed online. Your feedback will help guide efforts to improve special education and related services in your local school system.
