March 24 - April 4
Cowboy Shoutouts
- Thank you to all 3-5 teachers for the awesome DA data meetings! I think we have a great plan for the next several weeks!
- Special thanks for all of you who helped with the Black History Parade and Wax Museum. It exceeded my expectations, and I cannot wait to see how it evolves next year!
- Congratulations to Coach Holguin, Mr. Hennip, and Ms. Dominguez for leading the 3/4 soccer team to a championship win!
- Thank you to Ms. Barron and Ms. Steptoe for all of their hard work on the yearbook. I cannot wait to see it!
Principal's Message
Hello team,
Happy Spring! I hope that everyone had a FABULOUS Spring Break. The calendar does not look too packed, but there are very important things happening at Havard.
- Don't forget about the duty changes we discussed at the faculty meeting. Safety is our top priority. Everyone must be on time and actively monitoring.
- This week, the parent and staff CNA surveys from the district will be sent out. The window will remain open until April 3rd. Please take a few minutes to give your feedback. Information is used to write the Campus Improvement Plan.
- Report grades are due. You should be following the grading policy from the handbook. If you have changes that need to be made, you need to let an administrator know. We will have to approve changes in Skyward.
Thank you again for all that you do. Your hard work does not go unnoticed, and I am truly honored to work alongside such an exceptional team.
As always, if you need anything or have any questions, please let me know. My door is open, and I am here to help you. Thank you for your continued efforts in making our school a nurturing and inspiring environment for our students. The work you do has the power to change the trajectory of someone's life. Keep seeing potential. YOU ARE changing lives. Let’s make this another positive and productive week!
Dr. Lisa Hamblen
This Week's Focus
It is CRUNCH TIME! There are 11 instructional days until the Reading STAAR test. There are 20 days until the Math STAAR, and 5th will take Science in 15 instructional days. We know that our students have been well prepared and that the next couple of weeks will be very intentional to meet the specific needs of our students. When you see a 3rd, 4th, or 5th grader, please encourage them to do their best!
We also need to keep our school-wide goal for math, improving problem-solving, and integrating writing at the forefront of our minds. Remember, every subject area can contribute to these goals through various strategies. Please use the links below to access the plan and template. These are not suggested practices. They are required. Please see your CIC or an administrator if you have questions. We will be looking for evidence of this in your classrooms.

Attendance Awareness
As we get further into the school year, we would like to remind you of the importance of good attendance for all students. Every day a student is absent is a lost opportunity for learning. Too many absences can affect achievement for the absent student. Last year, our attendance was 95.1%. That means our students missed approximately 6 days each. Our goal for this year is 96.1%. This would mean that students miss about 5 days out of the 167 days in the school year. We will be monitoring student attendance closely. Lets work together to improve attendance and student success!
1st 6 Weeks: 96.27% WE MET OUR GOAL!
2nd 6 Weeks: 95.68% Keep promoting attendance!
3rd 6 Weeks: 94.55% This is the time that attendance is historically lower. Keep promoting good attendance!
4th 6 Weeks: 94.8% We are still on track to do better than last year. Thanks for always promoting good attendance!
