Weekly Update
for Dec. 16 - Jan. 10, '24
Dear Families,
Wow! This year's Pozole dinner was a tremendous success! We are still totaling up the donations, however we believe over $1000.00 was raised to support the students and teachers of Truscott. Thank you so much to our Café con Leche group for all of your hard work to make this night happen and for cooking the delicious Pozole. Thank you to all the families that donated food items, helped set up and clean up. A huge thank you to First United Methodist Church for their continued generosity by allowing us to use their kitchen and community space. Thank you to Taste Local for the use of their refrigerators to keep the Pozole cold overnight. Thank you to the Truscott Dance Team, for their amazing performance, as well as Leticia Calzado for her accompaniment. Last night was a testament to the incredible community we have here at Truscott!
Once again we are going to need to postpone Grandparent's Lunch. We are still on the county watch list for the Norovirus, which is still in our physical building. The recommendation is especially for more vulnerable populations, including most grandparents. We are really hoping to be released from the county list after we are out of the building and the virus has a chance of clearing out over winter break. We will send an update once we have been released. Thank you for your understanding and we hope to have our grandparent's visit very soon!
We are wishing you and your family a very happy holiday season! Enjoy you break and we look forward to seeing your children on January 8th!
All the best,

A Note from the Health Office
Hi families,
Since the weather is colder and we start to see more moisture and precipitation, please be aware that playground equipment may be wet, which means your child's clothing may become wet. We have a limited supply of clothing in the health office to support toileting accidents, so it would be helpful if your child had a set of dry pants and socks in their backpack just in case. Please also remember to send your students with appropriate clothing including coats, jackets, hats and snow boots as the temperatures continue to drop. We have a few spares here, but not many.
Please also remember that cough drops and throat lozenges, while helpful during cold and flu season, are not allowed to be brought to school. Any medicines, including cough drops and lozenges, must have a doctor's permission for administration and have to be kept in the health office.
Thank you for your understanding.

With Field Trips Starting up, Do you Want to be a Volunteer?
If volunteers and chaperones can go on a field trip, do you want to be one? If so, you need to go to the Thompson School District website and fill out a volunteer form. You must be an approved volunteer to go on the field trip. If you are not sure if you are an approved volunteer please call me and I can look you up in the system.
Here is the website you need to go to and this needs to be done at least two weeks prior to the field trip.
