7th Grade Student to be Recognized at the Annual iWrite Book Signing & Literacy Festival
We are thrilled to announce that Brayden Plemel, a 7th-grade LJMS student, has been recognized by the iWRITE Literacy Organization for one of his outstanding poems! His talent and creativity have earned him the honor of participating in the iWRITE Book Signing & Literacy Festival this November. Read the full story here.
Congratulations, Brayden! We are incredibly proud of your achievement and look forward to celebrating your success at the festival. Keep up the amazing work!
Congratulations to Our Maverick Readers!
We are thrilled to recognize the amazing Jobe students who completed the Mansfield ISD 600-minute Summer Reading Challenge! Their dedication to reading over the summer has truly paid off.
To celebrate their accomplishment, Mrs. Smith, our librarian, hosted a special pizza party, where students were recognized for their outstanding efforts. A big thank you to everyone who participated in the challenge – we are so proud of our Maverick readers for their hard work and love of reading! Keep up the great work, and let’s continue fostering a lifelong passion for reading!
Jobe String Quintent Travels To Donna Shepard
Jobe's String Quintet visits Donna Shepard to perform for 5th graders! Along with the beautiful music, students got a hands-on experience learning about the instruments. They explored each instrument's parts and even got to participate in an exciting 'instrument petting zoo'!"
Staff of the Month: Lauren Dill
We are thrilled to announce that Mrs. Lauren Dill has been selected as our Staff of the Month! Despite having a lot thrown her way, she has risen to the challenge with grace and determination.
In her new role, she has truly been a rock star—tackling complex tasks, streamlining path points, and showing incredible organization, especially during our recent MAP testing meeting. Her hard work and dedication are inspiring, and her ability to communicate effectively ensures that our processes run smoothly. Congratulations, Mrs. Dill! Thank you for all that you do. You’re making a big impact!
Jobe Health Clinic
Jobe Health Screenings Begin October 01
State law requires that all public schools hold annual health screenings for students. We will be screening students throughout the fall semester on all campuses. Students will be screened for Hearing, Vision, and Acanthosis Nigricans (a visual marker that may indicate possible signs of type 2 diabetes) in grade levels PK, KG 1, 3, 5, 7 and all New to District students. Please ensure that your child is wearing his/her eyeglasses/contacts to school daily.
Female students in grade level 7 and males in grade 8 will be screened for Scoliosis (a curvature of the spine). Boys and girls will be screened separately.
Check your email for more information.
Counselors Corner
HOPE Squad
Our 24-25 Hope Squad is starting to meet this month! Hope Squad is a peer-led suicide prevention group that is a country-wide initiative. Students are trained on how to refer their peers to school counselors or other adults who can help students who might be thinking of suicide. These students are also seen as leaders on campus and assist the admin team in helping to create a positive and inclusive school culture.
All students had the opportunity to participate in nominations the week of September 23rd. These nominations took place during advisory, where every class watched a video on the nomination process and then filled out a Google form and selected three of their peers who they thought should serve on Hope Squad. For questions about Hope Squad, please email hollyvasquez@misdmail.org or gloriaalferez@misdmail.org.
CTE Pathways
Beginning in the 2nd 6 weeks, 8th grade students who are taking Career Pathways in the fall semester will be selecting courses they want to take in high school. This is part of the process of creating their four year plan. In November, these students will meet with the high school counselors from Legacy High School. Students will input their course selections with the help of the high school counselors and begin creating their 9th grade schedules. Dates that high school counselors will be on the Jobe campus are TBA.
Mrs. Vasquez will be pushing in to Career Pathways classes during the 2nd 6 weeks to help support the 8th grade students as they are selecting their classes. For specific questions about the high school courses, please contact your child’s Career Pathways teacher.
