We’re teaming up with Children’s Mercy and Sporting Kansas City and bringing the RED CARD KC Campaign to our school to raise awareness about bullying prevention. Bullying is NEVER, ever okay and the RED CARD campaign will help us all CALL IT, when you see it.

It’s time to start planning for fall conferences. Parent/Teacher conferences will be held during the evening on Wednesday, October 16th (4-8pm) and the afternoon and evening of Thursday, October 17th (1-8pm). Our goal is to have 100% in-person attendance. These days and times have been dedicated by the district for conferences, if you are unable to attend due to travel/other commitments, please notify your child's teacher and they will send home conference materials for you to be able to review.

Conference scheduling takes place on Skyward, the same platform where you access your student’s lunch accounts, grades, and attendance. On October 4th at 3:00 pm the district will open the window for scheduling fall conferences. The window will close at 3:00 pm on Monday, October 14th. After the scheduling window closes, any conference scheduling will need to go through your child’s teacher.

We are excited to welcome our Watch DOGS back to PCES! Watch DOGS (which stands for Dads of Great Students) invites fathers and father figures to volunteer in the school, keep hallways and classrooms safe, and provide a positive role model for kids.

Below is some important information to help you in your decision to sign up

• BEFORE you can volunteer for Watch DOGS, you must complete the volunteer process outlined.

• We will continue doing HALF days this year! Below are a few things that will be consistent no matter if you choose AM or PM:

• Check in at the front office

• We will call your student(s) up to greet you and get your picture taken

• You will receive your schedule that will tell you where to go from there

• As a Watch DOGS volunteer, you will help out throughout the building and will also spend some time with your student (specials, lunch, and recess). It is important to follow the schedule as closely as possible so that you can have the most positive impact.

• Watch Dogs are such an important and fun part of our day here at school and we appreciate you volunteering your time. Dates for Watch DOGS to volunteer will start on Tuesday, October 1st, and run through the rest of the school year. The link for the sign-up sheet is now live: Watch DOGS Sign-up

• If you need to change your date, you will have access to the sign up and are able to make those changes on your own. If you need to cancel the night before or morning of your scheduled date, please email pces-info@usd230.org and we will cancel your date so that you may reschedule for a different time.

We are looking for volunteers to help with supervising the lunchroom. If you are interested, please sign up for the timeslot(s) you are available.

You are more than welcome to have lunch with your child(ren), but please don't sign up for their time slots.

Any lunchroom volunteers must have their background check completed. If you are unsure, please contact our PCES office at 913-592-7255.
