Hawk Happenings
WELCOME BACK!
2024-2025 School Year
Day One!
The first day of school for all Bogota students is tomorrow—Thursday, September 5th! A reminder that on On September 5th and 6th, all Bogota Public Schools will be on a Single Session schedule, with the school day wrapping up at 12:40 pm.
Start Time - 8:10 AM DROP OFF and 8:20 START TIME
We are so excited to see you!!! Happy (almost) day ONE!
School will start at 8:20 AM (not 8:30 AM). Any students arriving after 8:20 AM will be late for homeroom. Announcements will begin promptly at 8:20 AM.
Parents and guardians should be dropping off their children before 8:20 AM to walk with their class to their homeroom at 8:20 AM. Students dropped off after 8:20 AM not only cause a disruption to the class but also start their morning routine off late causing them to miss vital learning time in period 1.
We understand when you arrive closer to 8:30 AM, there may be traffic with late drop-offs, causing you to drop your student off late. We ask that you drop your student off at 8:10 AM to ensure students are in their lines and ready to move to their classroom at 8:20 AM.
When the late bell rings promptly at 8:30 to end homeroom and begin period 1, the gates will be closed and no late students will be allowed in the back entrance. This is because all students have moved to their classrooms at 8:20 AM and a first-period PE class has already started in the gym. To allow time to wait on the drop-off line, please arrive starting at 8:10 AM.
Cars should pull up between cones and the sidewalk on Orchard Terrace. Children should exit the car and proceed to the playground entrance. Staff will be available to monitor students exiting the car and entering the playground. Please continue to pull up once your student has exited the car. There is no parking allowed.
If your child is part of the breakfast program, they may enter the gym doors, beginning at 7:30 AM.
Parents are not permitted to enter the gym for any reason.
Drop-Off Procedures: PRESCHOOL
Preschool students will enter through the vestibule doors. Preschool begins at 8:30 AM but doors will open at 8:10 for parents dropping off older siblings. A preschool aide will be available at that time to sign your child in. Your older child may not sign in your preschool child. An adult must sign your preschooler in. Please remember when parking to only park in a legal spot. There is no parking on Orchard (school side). PRESCHOOL dismisses from the vestibule doors at 2:30 PM.
We WENT Green!
Reminder: ONLY 20 FAMILIES LEFT
We are VERY HAPPY to announce that STEEN is officially GOING GREEN. This means no more big bulky packets (only a small one), no more writing your student's name over and over again, and a lot less wasted time for you!!! The high school officially went green in the 2019-2020 school year, with 100% of parents verifying their contact information. But for this to work for our school, we need your help!!
Going forward, ALL communication will be sent primarily through RealTime. This includes announcements, contact information, grades, etc. Please read the GO GREEN memo for more details and steps needed from you.

For help logging on, please contact the main office.
Nurse's Corner
All medicine must be dropped off to the main office on or before the first day. Please ensure the proper paperwork is included.
Citizenship Grade
This year, we will introduce a citizenship grade in all wellness classes in grades 3-5. A citizenship grade is a way for teachers and administration to communicate a student's behavior, social skills, and overall contribution to the classroom and school community as a citizen. Unlike academic grades, which measure how well a student understands and applies knowledge to subjects like math, reading, and science, a citizenship grade focuses on the student's conduct and character. This grade offers many positive benefits for students, teachers, and parents, including promoting/reinforcing positive behavior, developing social skills, encouraging responsibility, enhancing the school experience, supporting personal growth, facilitating communication, and encouraging a positive school culture.
Back to School Night
To better prepare for the new school year, we invite you to attend our Back-to-School Night on Thursday, September 19th. This event will provide an opportunity to meet our dedicated staff, learn about the exciting plans for the year, and explore ways to get involved in our school community. More information to follow via email!
