Anna Herndon won a performance award athe 2024 Encore Awards.

Envirothon Team
Congratulations to our Envirothon Team on their performance at the competition. One team received 2nd place in the county for Wildlife and 9th place overall in the county. The FFA team earned 11th place in current issues which should be commended as it was their first time competing at this event.
Melanie Thoman, Sophomore
Nominated at YAIAA Player of the week for her Track & Field performance: She won the shot put event at the Herb Schmidt Relays at York Suburban High School. The sophomore posted a best effort of 32-1 ¼ to finish 13 ½ inches ahead of the rest of the field.

Spring Keystone Exams
The Spring session of state-mandated Keystone Exams at Dover Area High School has been scheduled for May 13-20, 2024. The following students will take a Spring 2024 exam:
- Students currently enrolled and will complete Algebra, Biology, or English II in Spring 2024
- Students in a Keystone Remediation Course

Spring Keystone Exam Schedule
May 13 and 14 - Algebra (3 hour window - 7:45-10:45)
May 15 and 16 - Biology (3 hour window - 7:45-10:45)
May 17 and 20 - Literature (3 hour window - 7:45-10:45)During the delay schedule times, students in grades 9 and 10 who are not testing will be working on asynchronous assignments in a non-testing room in the building. Juniors and Seniors who are not testing on these delayed schedule days are eligible to arrive at school by 10:40. Any Juniors who have not completed their Smart Futures lessons will be required to attend school at the regular 7:45 start time. Seniors failing any required courses for graduation are highly encouraged to report to school for assistance during this time. Seniors in this situation will be assigned to a room with a teacher to assist and supervise them.

Enrichment classes are for any student who may want to get ahead in their graduation plan. These courses are full courses instead of the abbreviated courses for credit recovery. Therefore, they are more expensive and involve more work. In addition, they are offered in more areas than credit recovery courses.
If you are interested, please use the links below for more information and complete the registrations forms. All forms are due to either Mr. Deal or your counselor by June 6, 2023 and payment must be received in full prior to the start of classes.
Class of 2025 Senior Pictures
Class of 2025, it's time to schedule your Senior Picture appointment! Photos are typically taken over the summer, before your Senior year. We have appointments available from May 14th-16th and June 25th-27th! Get them done early so you can be sure you'll be in the yearbook. Photo sessions are free.
Biology Keystone Boot Camp
Are you taking the Biology Keystone in a few weeks? Mrs. Forbes is offering a Keystone Boot Camp May 14th from 2:45-4:30 PM and May 15th from 245-430pm. May14th will be for a review of the information tested in Module 1. May 15th will be for a review of the information tested in Module 2. All Biology students, regardless of their teacher, are welcome. Students may attend one or both sessions. The Boot Camp will be held in room 232. See Mrs. Forbes for more information.
ThinkFast Interactive
State Farm / Pennsylvania has selected (2) schools in our county to receive the Department of Transportation's Life Savers Award winning experiential teen safety program, ThinkFast Interactive. Dover is one of the schools to receive this opportunity. This (1) hour program is a comprehensive and interactive educational session on everything that relates to teen drivers in Pennsylvania, including the state's rules, regulations and penalties, along with a heavy dose of distracted driving content, and updates on your GDL rules. We will be having this assembly on May 21, 2024 for all of our current Juniors and Seniors.

The valuable awareness content is taught using multi-digit wireless remotes for up to 600 students in a one (1) hour program. ThinkFast Interactive is very popular with administrations for its turnkey features, its length, and its innovative connectivity features.
Career in STEM Interest
Are you interested in a career in STEM - chemistry, engineering, radiation protection and more. Peach Bottom will be hosting a STEM Academy and STEM University this summer. The Academy is for rising 10th -12th graders looking for hands-on experience in the STEM fields. The Academy runs June 10-14.
The Peach STEM University is June 10-14 and June 17-21. This is for rising 12th graders looking to enter directly into employment after high school. In this, students will receive formal training and certifications to fill future paid positions.
Lunch and transportation are provided for both events.
2024-2025 Host Families Needed
Almost every year Dover Area High School participates in a foreign exchange student program where we host a foreign student for an academic calendar year. While this student is here they attend school and participate in activities just as any other high school student would. For the 2024-2025 academic year we are hosting a female student from Denmark and are looking for 2-3 host families that can house her while she is here. She is fluent in English and has been thoroughly interviewed to make sure she is the right fit for our school. Positive Choices - Prom Assembly
On Friday, May 10, Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) will be hosting an assembly led by School Resource Officer Shaffer to help students make good choices on prom night. The assembly will discuss positive choices, drinking & driving, and mental health. As a demonstration, Officer Shaffer will have goggles for a few participants to try to simulate how their vision is altered when under the influence. All prom participants are invited to the assembly. Any other Junior or Senior who would like to attend, my complete the form below to sign up.
