Principals' Messages
Ms. Benningfield, Lower Campus
Ms. Munves, Upper Campus
Over the last two weeks, many of our students have begun participating in our after school clubs and extracurriculars. It's been so special to see students engaged in collaboration with their peers outside of the regular school day and content courses. While not all organizations have begun meeting yet, we are proud to share that we have 35 different opportunities for students to engage in. Developing the whole learner goes beyond just supporting students academic achievements. As we progress through the year, we’ll be partnering with Lower Campus and PTA to showcase the different opportunities for involvement at Upper Campus.
Lastly, I want to thank you for continuing to support our efforts to educate every student, every day, by ensuring that your child attends school every day. This week at our Dallas ISD Region 1 Principals’ meeting, Rosemont Upper was recognized as one out of four schools in our region that met attendance targets within the first five weeks of school. Thank you for partnering with us to support all Bison!

Assessment and Instruction
We are excited to share that all students will be using a Mathematics and Reading program called i-Ready. i-Ready replaces the NWEA MAP assessment to measure growth for our kinder - second grade students and provides additional, personalized instructional programming to grow our students.
What is i-Ready?
i-Ready is an online program that will help us determine your child’s strengths and areas for growth, personalize their learning, and monitor their progress throughout the school year. i-Ready allows us to meet your child where they are and provides us with data to inform instruction.
At the beginning of the year, middle of the year, and end of year, your child will take an i-Ready Diagnostic exam. The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions based on student responses. Each item a student receives is based on their answer to the previous question. For example, a series of correct answers will result in slightly harder questions, while a series of incorrect answers will yield slightly easier ones. The purpose of this is not to give your child a score or grade but to determine how to best support their learning. Teachers will be sharing the results of the assessment during our Parent Teacher Conferences in October.
i-Ready Instruction provides students with lessons based on their individual strengths and areas for growth. These lessons are interactive and provide strategic supports to keep your child engaged as they learn.
Thank you for your continued support and for being a partner in your child’s learning! I look forward to sharing i-Ready information with you throughout the year. If you have any questions about i-Ready, please do not hesitate to contact the school. You can also learn more about i-Ready by visiting i-ReadyCentral.com/FamilyCenter.
