Steele is gearing up for our annual Turkey Trot and Thanksgiving Luncheon. We will be celebrating on Thursday, 11/21. Lunch times will be different so that each grade level has a chance to trot. You can find the schedule here. We look forward to celebrating with you!

Tickets are available in the main office through November 20th. Only cash or checks are accepted.

Tickets are $7 for adults and $6 for non-Steele kids.

Veterans Day is celebrated every year on November 11th, but this year, we would like to celebrate a whole week as a Steele Community. We will be celebrating Spirit Week from November 18 to November 22.

Let’s celebrate all of our active-duty military personnel by raising money for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation and K9s for Veterans. Tunnel for Towers Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children and by building specially adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders. Tunnel to Towers is also committed to eradicating veteran homelessness and helping America Never Forget September 11, 2001. K9s for Veterans has a mission to help veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder transition back to civilian life once their military service has ended with the help of trained service dogs.

In honor of the brave men and women serving our nation, please bring $1 to celebrate Veterans Day Spirit Week by celebrating in a bunch of ways:

• Wednesday, November 20th - Red, White & Blue Day/Camouflage Day – bring a $1.00 or more donation for Veterans Day 🪖

• Friday, November 22nd - Pajama Day 🛌

November's Men of Steele meetup is Wednesday Nov 20, at 6p, at the Kentucky Inn (890 s Pearl).

This event is open to any dads at Steele and is a very casual way to meet other dads, have a few beers, play pool/darts,etc. Call/text Ryan Dillon with any questions at 303-489-3211.

DPS has started an A La Carte program for students. This means that students can purchase additional items with their lunch. To do this, students must have money in their My School Bucks account. Steele is working to get a list of items being sold as well as their ingredients. We will keep families informed once we receive this information.

Here is what we have received from DPS:

A la Carte Program

We believe that all foods fit into a balanced diet and strive to offer a diverse range of menu and a la carte options. All items are Smart Snack approved and align with the DPS Wellness policy.

Al la carte smart snacks

• Are 50% or more whole grain by weight

• Have as the first ingredient a fruit, a vegetable, a dairy product, or a protein food

• Be a combination food that contains at least ¼ cup of fruit and/or vegetabl

• Meet the USDA nutrient standards for calories, sodium, sugar, and fats
