Grand Avenue Middle School Library
December 2023
Holiday Cards for Mercy Haven
When completed, students should drop off their handmade cards to Mrs. Poplawski, the school librarian, to receive community service hours (20 minutes per card). Students should make sure to hand in their cards by Monday, December 18th!
Students are asked to address their cards with the salutation "Dear Friend" and to sign their cards with "From Grand Avenue Middle School." Cards should contain a nice holiday message inside, such as "Wishing you all the best this holiday season!"
Last year, we were able to fill and deliver a paper box full of cards to Mercy Haven, who then distributed them to children across Long Island!
Britannica ImageQuest
Many students have been coming to the library to print pictures for classes. Our school has a database called Britannica Image Quest that contains millions of rights-cleared images in one place.
Students can search for pictures, including clip art, without worrying about copyright. There are also search options to filter by shape or size.
On the front page, underneath the search bar, ImageQuest also promotes specific collections of images for interested students to explore.
DECEMBER'S MAKERSPACE CHALLENGE
Students can take pictures of makerspace creations and email them to the librarian to win a small prize!
