Palmer Catholic Academy of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church provides a Catholic and Christ-centered educational environment that inspires all students to reach their full spiritual and academic potential and become responsible, respectful, and reverent disciples of Christ.

We hope you had a nice weekend! Our Eucharist retreat went very well! Please continue to pray for our students receiving their First Communion in May.

As a reminder, this is the week of our Accreditation visit! The visiting team will be on campus all day Tuesday and Wednesday, reviewing evidence, speaking with staff, students, parents, Msgr. Brennan, and Deacon Conway, and observing classrooms. After dismissal on Wednesday, they will present the staff with their exit report. Please pray for us during this time! Please remind your children about the importance of this as well! We know our Blue Angels will make us proud!

It is lice season! In order to prevent the spread of lice, please check your child's hair carefully! If you see any lice or eggs, please treat it immediately! Remind your child not to share hats, clothing or brushes with other students. If your child does get lice, please be sure to inform administration so we can ensure the proper procedures are followed at school. It is a good idea for girls to wear their hair up and/or in braids duiring this lice season. Also, it is helpful to put product in your child's hair each morning. Thank you for your help in preventing the spread of lice at the school!

Friday, March 8 marks the end of the 3rd quarter! Please be sure to check Renweb (grades 3-8) to review your child's progress. Report cards will be sent home via email on Tuesday, March 19.

There is no school for students on Monday, March 11. Teachers will be attending a Diocesan Professional Development Day at Bishop Kenny with Bishop Pohlmeier.

PCA is in need of a 7th Grade Religion teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. If you know anyone who would be a good candidate for this part-time position, please let me know!

Due to the Accreditation visit, we will have our weekly Adoration on FRIDAY this week in the PCA Chapel from 9:30 AM - 2:45 PM. Cleared parents are welcome to participate. Our Lady Star of the Sea will be offering 2 sessions for Altar Server Training on Monday, March 11th and Tuesday, March 12th at the church. Sessions begin at 4:15pm until 6:00pm. Students in Grades 5 and up are encouraged to attend if they are interested in serving as an Altar Server at Our Lady Star of the Sea.

Below is the calendar for the 2024-2025 school year. PLEASE NOTE: WE GUESSED AT THE DATES FOR TPC NEXT YEAR. IF TPC IS NOT THE WEEK OF MARCH 10, 2025, THEN THE EARLY RELEASE AND DAY OFF THAT WEEK WILL CHANGE TO WHATEVER WEEK IT IS. A more detailed calendar with additional school activities will be released prior to the end of the school year.

Title: Practicing the Art of Accompaniment in Your Family

Family session on March 14 at 7:00 pm

This presentation will introduce, what Pope Francis has referred to as the “art of accompaniment” (Joy of the Gospel, no. 169) by focusing on how Jesus accompanied his disciples in the Gospels. Next, we will look at accompaniment as a way of evangelization that is rooted in the cultivation of relationships based on respect, trust, and love and mediated through the actions and attitudes we choose to adopt. Finally, we will reflect on practical ways that family members can more intentionally accompany one another.

PCA uses a Virtues in Practice Program. Each month we focus on a specific virtue and different grade levels learn about a saint who exemplifies that virtue. At the end of month, there will be a family assignment to complete about the virtue. Each class will choose a Disciple of the Month based on the virtue.

March's virtue of the month is TEMPERANCE. Temperance is enjoying things in a proper, balanced way.

grades 3-5: St. Camillus de Lellis

grades 6-8: Ven. Matt Talbot
