Spring Term - 16th May 2024
Message from the Executive Headteacher
Dear Parents/Carers
Firstly, a huge well done to all the year 6 children and staff who have completed the SATs. It's a busy and full on week for everyone and the children approached the tests with such maturity and positivity. They are now looking forward to enjoying their final half term and to finding out what the production will be which will be the focus for the final few weeks.
A reminder that on Monday we will be holding our class photos. Please make sure the children have their full school uniform and their best smile.
HJS will be holding our very popular Creative Arts Week and the theme this year is "Women in Art". The staff have been working hard to ensure it's an exciting week and I must give special thanks to Miss Baxevanidis who is leading art in school.
A reminder about part of the school uniform requirement is the black PE hoody which all children need to have. Please ensure your child isn't wearing other hoodies to school.
The choir will be performing at the Richmond Singing Festival. I have heard the rehearsals and they sound fantastic and I know they will put on a great performance at the Rose Theatre next week.
It is national walking to school week next week. Please try to walk and scoot to school instead of driving or even park a little further away and get some steps in.
We have been asked to distribute a letter from the Met Police regarding the dangers of open water swimming now the summer is approaching. This is attached below for your information.
Finally, a reminder that the school will be closed on Friday 24th May for Inset day.
Enjoy your weekend.
Ms H Lockey

HJS Sporting Achievements
On Tuesday 14th May, 3 talented swimmers went to the LSSA swimming gala at Latimer School in Hammersmith. They were invited as they had swum and won their events at the Richmond Borough Gala in February. This is the first time we had been invited to this event, competing against children from all over London who had performed well in their Borough Galas. River Silbery, Brooke Tiller and Daisy Forder performed exceptionally well in their events, and we are awaiting the results to see if they progress further.
Year 4 News
Year 4 enjoyed their visit to Hampton Library last week.
4P shared their excellent writing about 'The Dreamgiver' with 3G.
Year 6 News
6GF were great at Kingston Mosque and really learnt a lot about the religion which has linked to what we are learning in the curriculum.
