8.24.20
Dear Bobcat Parents,
Happy Monday!
There was so much excitement in the air last week with the start of school. I loved seeing all of the first day of school pictures that families took and shared of their students last week. Thank you to all of you that shared.
Please read this newsletter thoroughly as it provides important information for the next couple of weeks as we start to plan for the shift from all online learning to the combination of online and in-person learning.
I know that this has been a new and unprecedented way to start school, but please know that your patience, flexibility, and understanding has been/is a crucial part of this year's success.
Stay well,
Principal Kellner

Shifting - All Remote to a Combination of Remote & In Person
In person, learning starts on September 8th.
Parents have until Tuesday, August 25, to complete/finalize your commitment forms to select remote or in-person learning for your child. This must be accessed through Skyward from a computer and NOT the app on your phone. I encourage everyone to make this selection based on what is best for your family and not based on who has a preferred current teacher, who is in whose class, or other factors that are likely to change.
We will reorganize classes once we have the information from you, we will review all lists to make sure special services are implemented, we will review to make sure each child is placed in a classroom taught by the teacher who is right for that child, and we will balance classes. For many of our students, we will not have to make any changes.
Everyone will be notified if their teacher placement will change on September 4th. Children will start in their new classes, some remote, some in person on September 8th.
Preparing for the Shift September 8th
In order for us to be prepared for the shift, the afternoons of August 28th & September 4th will be asynchronous for our Bobcats. Teachers will be synchronous with students in the morning on each of these days, and then while students continue the learning in the asynchronous format, teachers will be working to prepare for the major shift that will happen on September 8th. We will be working on everything from detailed review of new class lists for both remote and in person classes, to transfer of student information to new teachers, to allergy, epipen and seizure and other required trainings, review of COVID protocols, and school-wide protocols, arrival and dismissal procedures, referral to the nurse procedures, just to name a few things.
This is a dynamic situation. We get new information and new requirements daily. Our careful review of new information and clear communication of that information to staff and to parents and students is critical for a smooth and safe return to school. Thank you for your continued patience and support.
Access the learning through your child's LTISD account
Please use LT1 Classlink to enter and access all google links. Logging in through LT1 uses your child's LTISD account. If you try to access meetings or documents outside of this (like from your personal or work account for example), your access is restricted. Allowing entrance from outside LTISD accounts presents the possibility of unauthorized people accessing the classroom and is a security issue. Attempting to access from outside accounts also interrupts the instruction and the teacher has to deny your entry.
In short, PLEASE access all google links through LT1Classlink.

Remote Learning ... Helpful Info
As we gear up for a very unusual start to school, our number one priority is everyone's physical and emotional health. The last thing we want to do is add any additional stress to your lives. Please take some time to read the Remote Learning at Home Overview linked here on the district's web site.
If you are wondering what a day of remote learning might look like, you can go to this link. Remote learning is intended to provide students and families with an opportunity to have a flexible schedule.
- Students may follow the class day synchronously and participate in real time.
- Or families may choose to be more independent and participate asynchronously.
- Instruction will be a blend of online content and traditional classroom teaching.
- Attendance will be based on daily progress and participation.
- Because sitting too much and too much screen time can be bad for children's health, synchronous online class time will be limited to 1-2 hours a day.
We hope that our plans for remote learning will be user friendly and allow families to engage in academic work on a schedule that fits their unique circumstances. We want your children to learn and enjoy e-learning, not create more stress for you during an already stressful time. If you are worried, your teachers and I want to know. If you need help, we want you to ask. If you just need to share how you are feeling, we want you to reach out to us.
