LV Primary Parent News
October 23, 2024
Dear Primary Parents,
Next week is Homecoming AND Red Ribbon Week! The dress up days are always optional and the schedule is listed below. Primary and Intermediate always team up to align our days to make life a little easier. We are parents too and know keeping it all straight can make you feel crazy sometimes!
Individual Pictures/Proofs went home yesterday. If your child needs to retake, we will have picture retake day on November 5.
Student attendance is taken at 9:30 am daily, please keep this in mind when making appointments. A student must be here at 9:30 am to be counted present for the day. A student may only miss 15 school days total for the year (excused or unexcused.)
Thank you,
Mrs. Keck
Principal
Important Reminders!!!
Ribbon Sale tomorrow- $1 each before school!
Parent Behavior Tip of the Week
Focus: Guiding Your Child Through Friendships and Conflict Resolution
Supporting your child in navigating friendships and conflicts is essential for their emotional and social development. Start by fostering open communication, creating a safe space where they can express their feelings and thoughts about their friendships. Teach empathy by discussing how their actions impact others, encouraging them to consider different perspectives. Model healthy conflict resolution in your own interactions, demonstrating how to listen, express feelings calmly, and find compromises.
Encourage assertiveness by role-playing scenarios where they need to stand up for themselves or set boundaries. For example, practice joining a group game, handling teasing, or responding to peer pressure. You can simulate situations where your child has to apologize for a mistake, deal with exclusion, or mend a friendship after a conflict. Finally, help them practice problem-solving when conflicts arise, guiding them to brainstorm potential solutions. By actively engaging in these strategies, you can empower your child to handle social situations with confidence and compassion.
