Author Visit Form
KUTZ ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WELCOMES AUTHOR HILLARY SUSSMAN
We are thrilled to host local author & physical therapist, Hillary Sussman, MSPT at Kutz Elementary for our kindergarten, first, and second grade students on October 17! She will be working with the students in grades K to 2 teaching lessons about inclusion, kindness, empathy, and acceptance of differences. Don’t Please fill out the form below and return it with your child no later than Friday, October 10. Place your order form and check made payable to Adventures of Roxy in an envelope addressed to Sussman Author Visit. You can also order online using the QR code. All pre-orders will be delivered at assembly. If you miss the pre-order deadline, no worries! You can order up until Friday, October 25th.
Spirit Night on 10/22!
Kutz Musical Update
We are thrilled to announce that this year’s musical will be Aladdin (Kids)! We will have a Pre-Audition Workshop on Thursday, November 7th to provide students with audition materials and opportunities to learn and practice. Auditions will take place after school the following week. Parents/caregivers will need to sign their interested 5th and 6th graders up for ONE audition date, EITHER Monday, Nov. 11th OR Tuesday, Nov. 12th. Signup forms to follow in October. Students should be prepared to attend callbacks on Thursday, Nov. 14th, which is for students we need to see again. The cast list will be announced on Friday, November 15th.
Performance dates for the show are as follows:
Wednesday, March 5th - In school performance
Thursday, March 6th - Evening performance
Friday, March 7th - Evening performance

Important District Information
Device Usage Fees Due by October 30
It has been a great start to the school year with our student device distribution! All students will receive or continue using their assigned device. Before receiving a device, families in grades 3-6, 7, and 10, as well as new students, must complete the online user agreement and pay the usage fee. The elementary student fee is $15/year, while the fee for students in grades 7 and 10 is $60, which covers three years. Prorated fees apply for new secondary students. Reminder: 1-12 Early Dismissal on 9/30, School Closed on 10/3
To remind district families, all schools will dismiss early on Monday, Sept. 30 to allow the district to offer professional development to faculty. High school early dismissal time is 10:40 a.m.; middle school is 10:45 a.m.; elementary "A" schools is 11:55 a.m.; elementary "B" schools (Kutz included) is 12:10 p.m.; and elementary "C" schools is 12:25 p.m. School will be closed on Thursday, Oct. 3 for Rosh Hashanah. District offices are open.
New This Year: Limits on Due Dates for Homework and Summative Tasks Near Observances
In past years, the district has notified faculty in the week or weeks prior to religious or cultural observances to ensure they are cognizant of these events when assigning schoolwork. This year, the district has shared a year-long calendar of these observances with faculty and set guidelines on when no homework or summative tasks should be due.

Daily School Hours
Kutz is a "B" School
- Arrival begins at 8:30 AM
- Student day begins at 8:50 AM
- Student day ends at 3:30 PM
- Dismissal ends at 3:50 PM
- For early dismissal days- dismissal begins at 12:10 PM
- For 2 hour delay days- arrival begins at 10:30 and the student day begins at 10:50
Kindergarten
- Morning Kindergarten begins at 8:50 AM (arrival begins at 8:30 AM) and ends at 11:25 AM
- Afternoon Kindergarten begins at 12:55 PM and ends at 3:30 PM
- Beginning in the 2019-2020 school year, we implemented a “modified kindergarten” schedule on weather delay days. The schedule will be as follows for Kutz: AM Students 10:50 AM – 12:35 PM and PM Students 1:45 PM – 3:30 PM

Reminder for Volunteer Clearances
Please click here (https://www.cbsd.org/volunteers) to learn more about the process and requirements to volunteer in CBSD. App Garden Volunteer Tracker (https://appgarden5.app-garden.com/VolTrackPA92102.nsf/VolApp.xsp) is a contactless application and paperwork submission process. Sign-up is required for both new and returning volunteers.
Clearances expire five years after approval, so please check your CBSD Volunteer card to make sure yours are still current.
Clearances are required for parents chaperoning field trips, volunteering for classroom parties, and supporting other classroom and school events.
