Principal's Message

Dear Sabre families,


We hope everyone is having an enjoyable summer and have had a chance to relax and rejuvenate.


On behalf of the SAL staff, welcome to the 2023 - 2024 school year! We look forward to working with you and collaborating on our collective goal of student achievement, success and well being during and beyond high school.


As we embark on the new year, here are key dates and a brief description of what will be taking place on each of these days. Rest assured, we understand that all students may not be able to make it to these days due to other commitments and rightfully so, some may still be on summer holidays. Hence, we have ‘back up to back up’ plans for students to have access for the following should they be unable to attend the outlined dates. Stay tuned in the next edition of the Parent Sabre Scene for specifics.


  • August 21, 2023: Student timetables and schedules for both semesters are live through PowerSchool. Students can request timetable changes using this form. CLICK HERE to access Google Form. Students will need to use their EIPS email in order to access.

  • August 25, 2023: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.- Returning Grade 11 and 12s are able to access the school, get reacquainted with their surroundings, find classes in preparation for the first day and request lockers.


As a background and refresher from the message sent out this past June, our school enrollment has outgrown the number of lockers at SAL.


Thus, our Grade 10s will each receive their own locker as they acclimatize to high school. For our 11s and 12s, we are asking that students ‘double up’, if comfortable, with a friend to share a locker. However, we also understand for a variety of reasons that this is not always possible. Furthermore, should your child in Grade 11 and 12 require their own locker, we will find a way to honor this request as well.


August 28 - Grade 10 and new student Welcome!

8:30 - 11:00 a.m. ( Last name starts with A - K)

1:00 - 3:30 p.m. (Last name starts with L - Z)


Students will be allowed in the building to find their lockers, and the location of their classes. Lifetouch will be here to take photos of all students for their photo packages and Student ID’s.


August 31, 2023:

Grade 10 students and new students to Sal arrive at school at 8:30 a.m. for orientation. All grades attend the Welcome Back BBQ and for the afternoon with a modified class schedule. Again, stay tuned for further details in the next edition of the Parent Sabre Scene.
