24 - 25 Parent Newsletter - Issue #24
Dear Golden Bear Families,
As we wrap up the first month of the second semester, I am reminded of how quickly time is flying by! In just the few short weeks since we returned, our students have been actively engaged in learning new concepts in the classroom, showcasing their athletic skills on the courts and fields, and participating in various ASB activities, as well as CTE and VAPA events.
This past week, I had the honor of celebrating our Poet Laureates at the TVUSD Board meeting. In addition, we got to enjoy our students' participation in the Unified Games "Bocce Ball" event at Vista Murrieta. It was such an incredible experience, and a fabulous time was had by all! Events like these are a testament to the dedication and spirit of our students, and I am so proud of their involvement in our school community.
This past Friday, I also had the pleasure of attending our annual Talent Show, and it was truly a highlight of the year. Our students displayed incredible musical and artistic talents, and the energy from the audience—students and families alike—was so positive and supportive. It was a wonderful celebration of creativity!
Looking ahead, we have a lot to look forward to this month, including the Winter Formal, the "Working" drama performances, our CAASPP Kick-Off Rally, and the annual Cubs on Campus event. And don't forget, we have a long weekend coming up soon!
As we move further into February, I want to emphasize the importance of regular attendance and punctuality, including minimizing absences, tardies, late check-ins, and early check-outs. Our classrooms are in full learning mode, and with CAASPP testing beginning in March, consistent classroom engagement is more critical than ever. If your student has appointments or travel plans, please try to schedule them in a way that allows your student to maximize these valuable weeks of learning.
On a different note, we are continuing to have some concerns regarding campus cleanliness, particularly during break and lunch. Our restrooms are not meant for displaying political messages or any inappropriate graffiti. We take great pride in our campus and have invested a lot in making it a welcoming and beautiful space for our students. I ask that you please remind your student about the importance of taking care of their school environment, respecting boundaries, and being responsible citizens.
There is a lot of helpful information in this week's newsletter, so I encourage you to take a look. Thank you for your continued support as we work together to make this a great school year.
Wishing everyone a wonderful Golden Week ahead!
Mrs. Lione

2024-25 Teen Poet Laureate Winners from TVUSD
February is Black History Month, a time to celebrate the culture, history, achievements, and contributions of African Americans. The origins of Black History Month began in 1915, half a century after the Thirteenth Amendment abolished slavery in the United States. Historian Carter G. Woodson and Minister Jesse E. Moorland founded what is known today as the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH), which was dedicated to promoting achievements of Black Americans and other people of African descent.
In 1976, President Gerald Ford officially recognized Black History Month, calling upon the public to “seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of Black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history.”

You can Access 25/26 Course Selection Form Here]. Thank you for your support!
Advanced Placement Courses
Golden Bears/Families,
Your student may have received a letter at the end of the semester outlining AP Potential based on their performance on the PSAT that was taken in October. As course selection is approaching, we wanted to provide students an opportunity to hear more about the various Advanced Placement (AP) courses that are available to them to take next year. AP Teachers will be offering information sessions during Advisement over the next few weeks where students will be able to attend to hear more information about specific courses and ask any questions. Please complete the Google form indicating which course sessions students would like to attend so that a 5Star pass can be sent. Students - you MUST check in with your Advisement teacher and show them your pass prior to attending.

Baseball’s goodwill tour continued this week as they hosted another group from Tokyo, Japan. It was yet another wonderful opportunity to connect with a different culture while enjoying some great baseball. We’re grateful for our partnership with GXA and The California School of English, which has made these experiences possible
A big shoutout to our TVHS Boys’ Wrestling team for earning their 37th consecutive league championship and securing a Division 1 CIF berth.
