We are still soliciting any additional feedback on the MOA that was sent to superintendents at the beginning of the month. We anticipate finalizing these MOAs this week so the districts can get the necessary approvals.

• Begin thinking about the candidates in each school for the School Coordinator Position. Remember that these applicants will need to be people in the GU-JC schools that will receive a stipend and serve as the single point of contact for the schools and school teams.
• Begin forming your school teams. Remember that you should have at least 4 members that include people from the following categories:
• Administrators
• Teachers
• Counselors
• Parents
• Community Volunteers
• Begin thinking about a location that you will use to house the Team Facilitator when he/she is on campus.

The postings have been made for three GEAR UP Positions: Project Director, Financial Manager, and Administrative Assistant. After these are hired, we will then be advertising for the School Coordinator positions and we will proceed with the kickoffs for the school teams and the individual schools.

We had a great kickoff last month with our administrators and district personnel. The day started with our motivational speaker, Tim Alexander. He left us with the motivational message "We don't need it to be easy, we just need it to be possible."

We then moved to informative sessions and lunch. The day wrapped up by hearing from our potential partners. We look forward to having additional Kickoff Meetings with school teams, students, and parents. These will occur once the Project Director is hired- we will keep you posted!

We anticipate the next kickoff being after the holidays.
