Highlights of the week
As we enter the second week of our final half term of the year, I am delighted to share some of the wonderful events and achievements that have taken place at Twickenham School.
Despite a few remaining exams, our Year 11 students had a wonderfully memorable leavers' assembly yesterday. The assembly began movingly with a brilliant solo performance by Edie in Year 7, whose beautiful singing left hardly a dry eye in the house. The newly formed Twickenham School Choir also delivered a spectacular and upbeat performance. Following my speech, there was a special guest appearance by Ms. Ruse, our former Headteacher. Her emotional and heartfelt farewell was a touching moment that resonated with everyone present. Although she initially planned to stay only briefly, she remained until break time, signing shirts and saying a fond farewell. Adding to the celebration, our brand-new Year 7 school band gave an outstanding rendition of "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey, captivating the audience with their enthusiasm and talent. Year 11 tutors, Ms Charlton, Ms Damant, Ms Tonella, Mr Tabron, Ms Dekesel and Mr Fennell delivered heartfelt and amusing speeches, followed by the wonderful and incomparable Ms. Johnson, who has guided the entire Year 11 cohort through their good times and bad, along with the tutor team, to bring this amazing year group to their final destination. A special mention goes to Ms. O'Malley, who joined the Year 11 team in January and has provided incredible pastoral support to our students and their families. Congratulations, Year 11. Go out into the world with confidence, compassion, and the courage to be yourselves. We are incredibly proud of you and excited to see the remarkable things you will achieve.
In addition to this standout event, we have also been celebrating Big Green Week, focusing on various aspects of sustainability. Our students have engaged in activities such as Meat-Free Monday, Technology Tuesday, Wildlife Wednesday and fundraising today by wearing an item of green clothing. These initiatives not only raise awareness but also foster a sense of responsibility towards our environment.
We were thrilled to reveal "The Addams Family" as next year’s school production. This announcement culminated a two-week series of increasingly spooky clues, including posters and tannoy announcements. We can't wait for the auditions and rehearsals to begin.
Polite Notice: Please may I remind parents and students that only ONE student may be present in a toilet cubicle at any time. If two or more students are found in a toilet, this is a serious breach of our code of conduct and a serious sanction will be issued. There have been a couple of incidents of this in the last week, and this is a major safeguarding concern and will not be tolerated.
Thank you all for your continued support and cooperation. Together, we strive to create a positive and enriching environment for our students to thrive.
The big reveal for the school production
The performing arts department is very excite to announce the end of year school production will be The Addams Family musical.
Auditions are on Thursday 27th June after school in the Drama studio. All ks3 students will get one drama and one music lesson to learn about that process in the coming weeks.

This week in PE
It has been another busy week in the PE department, filled with exciting matches and notable achievements. Our U13 Boys cricket team wrapped up their league season with a close-fought match against Teddington, narrowly missing out on victory. Despite the defeat, the boys displayed great skill and teamwork throughout the season.
Both our U13 and U15 girls' cricket teams showcased remarkable determination in their final league games against Turing House. As we look ahead to the upcoming Borough Tournaments in a few weeks, the girls are gearing up with enthusiasm and dedication.
A special shout-out goes to Lola Whipp in Year 8, who has been impressing on the European football stage. Competing in tournaments over the last few weekends for her clubs, Woking and Brentford, Lola has demonstrated exceptional talent and commitment. We at Twickenham School are immensely proud of her achievements and will continue to support her and all our students in their sporting endeavours.
