Well the snow has finally found its way to Hagerstown! Of course, today was the day we finally decided to decorate the outside of the house. Although it was cold and wet, I love when all the lights are up:)

Greetings, Wildcats!

It’s the last week until winter break! And a busy week it is.

It was great to see so many of you at the December PTA Meeting last week! The slides from the meeting will be shared to the PTA membership before the break, so keep an eye on your email for that.

Thank you to ALL of you who signed up to contribute cookies to our wonderful staff - we were getting anxious, but are happy to report that all spots have been filled and each staff member will go home with at least 1 dozen mixed cookies to start their holiday traditions. The PTA loves these easy ways to thank our staff and we appreciate our families for supporting us. Remember, cookies are due in the front office on Wednesday & Thursday between 8am - 4pm!

We do still need some help at this week’s Wimsy’s Holiday Shoppe - if you are able to spare a few hours, PLEASE consider helping to make this year’s shoppe (offered on 3 evenings this year!) a success for our little shoppers. You can sign up here to help.

Remember Fun Run? Way back in October? This week, our two grade level winners are cashing in on their much deserved rewards for raising the most funds for our school! On Monday, the Kindergartners will watch Frosty the Snowman and on Friday, the 3rd Grade class will gather to enjoy a classic favorite - The Polar Express. The PTA will provide a popcorn/ water snack for the movie. We hope that all the students enjoy the movies!

During winter break, don’t forget to sign up to host a table at Multicultural Night in January or sign up your 3rd, 4th, or 5th grader for the Wims’ Spelling Bee in February. Both have January deadlines that come quickly after break - read more below.

2024-25 School Year

We are excited to announce the return of Wimsy’s Holiday Shoppe - this year for THREE days! Shop 4-6pm Monday & Tuesday, and 4-7pm on last chance Wednesday! All Wildcats are invited to do their own shopping for everyone on their list at affordable prices. There is something for everyone from mom & dad, brothers & sisters, grandparents, and even the family pet! Shopping assistants will be on hand as well as gift wrappers, to provide the full experience. The PTA will also be selling take n make crafts at clearance prices as additional options for their holiday lists. Volunteers and wrapping paper donations are needed! Our Yearbook Committee needs your help! Please share your photos from our events - Movie Night, Fun Run, PRIDE Assemblies, and more. We would also love your first day of school photos, photos of our patrols, and getting to & from school each day. Our Lifetouch upload link is now live. Simply go to this link to upload and you just might see your photos featured in the yearbook! Please remember to TAG when uploading photos, as this will make it easier for our committee to sort. If you are not sure which tag to use, just label the picture with the student’s grade level/ teacher. Thank you in advance for contributing to our Wims yearbook!

Multicultural Night is a special evening where we celebrate our diverse Wildcat Community through cultural enlightenment including diverse foods, art, artifacts, and a fabulous fashion show! We are looking for families that are interested in hosting a table. The hosting family is responsible for all items and displays. A table and cover will be provided. If you would like to showcase your family’s culture, please complete this interest from no later than January 10. Please note that families who wish to feature the same country may be grouped together. If you have any questions, please contact Natalia Winffel.

Calling all 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders interested in participating in our Wilson Wims Spelling Bee! The bee takes place during the school day and a schedule will be provided to the families of registered students closer to the event. The 5th grade winner will move on to compete in the Regional Bee, date TBD. If your student is interested in participating, please complete this interest form no later than January 19 (one form per student, please). The word list will be sent via email after the 19th. Please don’t delay in registering - due to bee logistics, we are unable to accept late submissions once the deadline has passed.

Did you know that you can earn for our school simply by shopping at Harris Teeter? HT has donated over $32.8 million to Together in Education schools since 1998. By simply visiting the website & linking your Harris Teeter VIC card, a percentage of your purchase is automatically donated to Wims (TIE #2814)! Our school relies on these funds and we hope to increase participation! Visit the TIE website today to start earning for Wims. Returning Families: Please note VIC cards must be re-linked annually!
