Families,
Winter is here! Please help your student pack the necessary snow gear for each day at school! If your family needs any assistance on getting boots, snow pants, coat, mittens, hat, etc, please let me know.
Next week, we will be taking our winter NWEA-MAP testing on Tuesday and Thursday. Reports will be going home on our final day before break, December 20th.
Holiday Party: Our holiday party will be on Friday, December 20th. It is a half day. We are planning to have hot chocolate, decorate Christmas cookies, and watching the Polar Express. We are asking for a $1-$2 donation to help pay for the items. Thank you!
Family Night/Music Performance: Family Night and our music performance will be on Thursday, December 12th. Both will be held at the High School. Students are asked to arrive at 4:45 to get ready for our performance at 5:00. Please drop your student off at the auditorium lobby. Students should be able to direct you there. After our performance, you will be able to pick up your student at the same lobby. The Family Night then runs until 7:00.
Have a great weekend!

Spotlight Student
This week's Spotlight Student was Bellamy! Bellamy is a great leader for her peers because of her responsibility and respect for all staff and students! Throughout the week, we have learned that Bellamy enjoys competing in dance competitions! She spends a lot of time competing locally and in our states. She also enjoys math and art. Bellamy does not enjoy winter!
Next week's Spotlight Student is Colton. Colton has done an awesome job with turning in his homework. He is also very helpful to his peers. Colton does a great job in following along in classroom discussions and sharing his thoughts! Throughout the year, we have learned that Colton loves to hunt and watch the Detroit Lions. We can't wait to learn more about him next week! Keep up the great work, Colton!
Inside the Classroom:
Math
Students have been working on more strategies for multiplication and division; especially with 9's. Students learned the hand trick, number patterns, and add 10/- 1 to help quickly solve facts with 9. We have also been working on multiplication of single digit factors and multiples of 10 (5x90, 3x40, etc). We will plan to test on Monday, December 9th. Students are coming home with a hard copy today. Our next unit will focus on multiplication within finding the area of different basic shapes.
