Reading Stats
Students checked out 1,000 more books by this time last year. How do we get our students more excited about reading? Her are some ideas:
- Read-a-loud Theme Weeks: read short stories or excerpts from books around a theme (spooky, funny, etc.)
- Partner reading: middle schoolers like to work with each other.
- Audio books- be flexible about what reading looks and sound like.

Car Rider - Pick Up and Drop Off
Car Line Drop Off and Pick Up
Drop Off
· Enter only on the west side of the parking lot only (one-way)
· Stay to the right and follow the first lane, pull as far forward as possible
· Driver needs to remain in vehicle
· If driver needs to help a student unload, please park your vehicle and walk with your student using the crosswalk in the center of the parking lot.
· Please do not drop off students in the back (north side) of the parking lot
· Remain in your vehicle at all times while in the ferry lanes
· Exit only on the east side of the parking lot
Pick Up
· CMS uses a six lane “ferry style” system for student pick up.
· Enter only on the west side of the parking lot (one-way)
· Students are not to walk into the parking lot. They must wait at the curb by the front of the school (please don’t call your student to come out to you).
· As you enter the parking lot, stay to the right and enter the next available lane.
· Staff should be out to direct you to the appropriate lane - starting with lane 1 by the trees on the west side of the parking lot, moving toward lanes 2. If staff is not outside to direct, please fill lanes in order from west to east (1, 2, 3, 4, etc.)
· Please pull as far forward as possible. This helps things move more quickly. If there is space in front of your vehicle as you approach the front, have your student walk along the curb rather than stop to pick them up and leave a large gap between vehicles.
· Remain in your vehicle at all times while in the ferry lanes
· Exit only on the east side of the parking lot
