Oak Grove Newsletter - August 11, 2023

Welcome to the 2023-24 School Year!

The first day of school is quickly approaching and we are very excited to welcome you back. A special welcome to families new to Oak Grove! We are glad that you have joined the OG family. As principal, I am looking forward to getting to know and work with your child.

We want to assure you that we have been working extremely hard in preparation for this school year. The staff at Oak Grove is amazing and going above and beyond to meet the needs of each student.

Our district theme for this year is "Every Student, Every Day". Working together as partners in your child's education, we will make this a great school year!

SCHOOL START Dates

The 23 - 24 school year is just around the corner! School start dates are below.

Early dismissal for Oak Grove is 12:25 pm.

District CALENDAR

OG Bell Schedule

The bell schedule will remain the same as last school year.

8:25 am - The first bell rings. Students can enter the building.

8:50 am - The tardy/late bell rings. All students should be in class ready to start their day.

3:50 pm - Students will be dismissed by bus, car or walker.

On days we have early dismissal, students will be dismissed at 12:25.

School Supplies

First Days of School

In an effort to better secure our school and establish routines with our students, the following procedures will again be in place this year.

Designated Hug Zone

Again this year, we ask 1st-5th grade parents/guardians to say goodbye to their student(s) at the front entrance of the building where we will then have a staff member walk them to their classroom. Pre-K and Kindergarten parents will only be allowed to walk students to class on the first official start day of school.

PK – Wednesday, August 16
Kdg – Tuesday, August 15

Any PK or Kindergarten parent/guardian that chooses to walk their child to class will be required to submit their government issued photo I.D. to the front office staff to be entered into the Raptor Visitor system.

We understand that sending students off to school can be difficult for parents, and so we truly appreciate your consideration of these procedures which will help us provide a great learning environment for our students.

Infinite Campus Parent Portal

Your Infinite Campus Parent Portal includes all of your contact information. Please make sure that phone numbers and email addresses are updated so that you can receive communications from Oak Grove Elementary and the district.

PTA loves being able to help Oak Grove each year with classroom grants, school equipment, special learning supplies, carnivals and events, etc. This year will be no different! To accomplish this, we need the help of the parents, grandparents, staff and community to please join PTA so we are able to help our students and teachers and try to make this year feel as normal as possible!
