🏈🎀 Blair’s Football & Cheer Teams Visit NSU! 🎀🏈
Our Blair Clippers football and cheer teams had an amazing experience at Norfolk State University for Breast Cancer Awareness Day! 💖 We are incredibly grateful to NSU for their partnership and the opportunity for our students to visit their campus, engage with college athletes, and learn more about the importance of community involvement.
Thank you, Norfolk State, for your continued support and for helping us promote awareness for such an important cause. Together, we are making a difference! 💪🎗️
Authentic Student Learning - And Adult Learning!
This week, our amazing teachers took on the role of students in a professional development session led by our incredible reading specialist, Ms. Stock. Through this hands-on experience, they explored new strategies to further support the unique needs of each child in their classrooms. Ms. Stock's expertise and passion for literacy truly shone through, helping our staff deepen their understanding of research-based approaches. It’s inspiring to see our team’s dedication to continuous learning, all in the spirit of making a difference for every student.
The snack cart made a surprise visit to Ms. Newton's Block 3/4! For the past four days, students have achieved perfect attendance in her class, and I couldn’t be prouder of their commitment. This remarkable achievement speaks volumes about their dedication to learning and the positive energy within our school community.
A special shout-out goes to Ms. Newton for fostering such a positive, engaging classroom environment. Her encouragement and ability to make learning enjoyable have been key to motivating our students to show up every day and give their best.
This is a fantastic reminder of the power of consistent attendance and the role we all play in supporting our students’ growth. Let’s continue celebrating these successes and working together to keep this momentum going!
Thank you all for your hard work and dedication to making our school an inspiring place for both students and staff.
Clubs will be starting soon!
Update to access the form
We made an adjustment for you to access the form and sign up for a club. We appreciate your feedback. We hope the changes make it easier for you sign up for a club. Please take a moment to sign up for club, they will be starting this week.
We are pleased to announce our variety of clubs and grateful for the staff members that are sponsoring these clubs for our students. Activities offered by clubs enable students to learn valuable skills and many of the activities offered by clubs help students to extend and elaborate on the more formal knowledge learned in school.
Times and dates will be shared with you after you sign up by the club sponsor. If you have any questions, please contact the club sponsor. Most clubs will start soon. Clubs will be held on Tuesday or Thursday because we can provide bus transportation (5:07 departure) for students that meet the requirements; club sponsor will let you know if the clubs meets on a different day. A form will be sent home to students when clubs start that give permission for students to stay after school. Students must use this form and sign a permission form to stay back.
Club Spotlight!
"The Empowerment Squad" is here! Starting October 22nd- help your school and community stay positive. In this club we will work together to provide guidance, support, mentorship, and inspire each other. With some community service, arts & crafts, and teamwork- it will be a place you can complete homework with some help and relax with your peers."
Panorama Survey
Norfolk Public School values input from our community, and we need to hear from your child. Students are important partners as we work to improve our communication efforts, our academic programs, and the overall school experience for everyone.
To learn more about student experiences at school, we will be asking for your child’s feedback via an online survey they will be completing at school. The survey should not take more than 20-30 minutes of class time to complete. We are asking that all of our students participate in the survey, as their feedback will provide invaluable insights into their experiences and how we can improve and adapt our district to their needs.
The online survey, which will be taken in class, is not designed to be difficult, and there are no wrong or right answers. If a student does not feel like they have enough information to answer a question, they will be able to skip the item altogether.
The survey will ask students to self-reflect on social emotional learning topics to include emotional regulation, social awareness, supportive relationships, school climate, sense of belonging, and teacher-student relationships.
We recognize that some families may not want their child to participate in the survey. If that is the case, please notify us if you would like your child to opt out of taking the SEL survey by filling in the form below and returning the form to your child’s block 7 teacher by October 14, 2024.
The opt out form was given to students on October 11, during block 7. If you do not receive the form, it is attached below. We will administer the survey on October 18, block 7.
