A Message from Dr. Ortiz, Principal of Sandy Run
Good evening, Sandy Run Families,
We are very proud of how our students have transitioned back to school since the winter break. With two weeks remaining in the second marking period, we are engaged in powerful lessons and assessments in class, winter sports are underway, and our 7th and 8th grade students are preparing for their annual musical performance. This is also a great time to check in with your child and have them walk you through their Schoology pages as a conversation about recent progress in class, as well as any work to prioritize in the final two weeks of the semester.
As a reminder, tomorrow (Friday, January 12) is an early dismissal for all students: the school day at SRMS ends at 11:45. Additionally, there is no school on Monday, January 15 as the district recognizes the Dr. Martin Luther King holiday. As I mentioned to students last week, this is often described not as a "day off", but rather a "day on" - a day of service and giving back to the community as Dr. King spent his life doing. The Upper Dublin community is such a close-knit, special place, and holidays like these help to remind us of the fortunate place we live and offer a chance to give back to the community and those around us. We hope to see many of you at the SRMS Student Council event described below, as one example of a way to help make our broader community even stronger. Regardless of how you are spending the long weekend, we hope that you and your family are well. Take care.
Sincerely,
Dan Ortiz
