Congratulations Carole!
Our wonderful Carole, who has been the heart and soul of our cafeteria, is retiring. Carole has been a beloved fixture in our school for the last 10 years, known for her incredible baking skills and the magical cookies she's whipped up daily—sometimes as many as 200 to 300! Our students have cherished these delicious treats, and Carole's warm smile and kind words have made our lunchtime extra special. As Carole embarks on this new chapter, we want to extend our deepest gratitude for all the joy and comfort she's brought to our school. Carole, we will miss you more than words can express. Thank you for everything you've done and for making our days a little sweeter. Please join us in wishing Carole a happy and fulfilling retirement! Let's give her a round of applause and fill the halls with all the love and appreciation she so richly deserves this week.

Orange Shirt Day & National Truth and Reconciliation Day
Orange Shirt Day is a legacy of the St. Joseph Mission (SJM) residential school commemoration event held in Williams Lake, BC, Canada, in 2013. It grew out of Phyllis' story of having her shiny new orange shirt taken away on her first day of school at the Mission. It has become an opportunity to keep the discussion on all aspects of residential schools happening annually.
Our division will recognize Orange Shirt Day on Friday, September 27th, 2024.
In recognition of National Truth and Reconciliation Day all schools in our division will be closed on Monday, September 30, 2024 for students and staff.

Mr Koopmans Teacher Exchange
My Australian teacher exchange experience has been nothing short of extraordinary. The warmth and hospitality extended by Marymount School have been truly remarkable. From being a guest coach at an exhilarating AFL carnival to immersing myself in my first Rugby League match, every moment has been filled with excitement and new experiences. Not to mention, the calves in Agricultural Science class have made it feel like home.
One of the most fulfilling aspects of my exchange has been sharing my passion for Canadian geography, trivia, and notable Canadian figures with eager students. Their enthusiasm and engagement have been inspiring, creating a dynamic cultural knowledge exchange.
Beyond the classroom, being in the breathtaking Gold Coast of Australia has allowed me to explore stunning beaches, and picturesque headlands, and clock countless miles on my bicycle. The natural beauty here is simply awe-inspiring.
Marymount School has offered a unique perspective on education. The structured support and resources available to students ensure their success, setting a standard that sparked innovative ideas for my school back home.
Garrett, my exchange teacher here, exudes an infectious passion for History, Geography, and Religious Studies. His dedication has been both inspiring and educational, enriching my experience even further.
This exchange has been a profound opportunity for personal and professional growth. It also allowed me the opportunity to do some solo travels and further explore this remarkable country, I am already planning my return to the land down under. Australia has captured my heart, and I cannot wait to share my newfound insights and experiences with my students and colleagues back home.
