Pray-Woodman Elementary School
A message from Principal Mr. Nils Gabrielson
A Note from Nils
We look forward to seeing you at conferences tomorrow. We truly value parent involvement at Pray-Woodman.
If you don't have a scheduled time, please contact the office at (316) 721-0902 as soon as possible.
I hope you will get a chance to stop by the Book Fair while you are here. It’s a great opportunity to find some fun things to read together as a family.
We would also encourage you to get involved with the PWS PTO (Parent Teacher Organization). This group provides awesome support for our school and has provided playground equipment and a variety of other learning materials over the past few years.
The PTO annual fundraiser is coming up soon, and volunteers are needed in many areas to help make this event a success. Our focus is getting a rock wall and sound system in the gym and some inviting shelving for the Media Center, in addition to providing teacher grants and providing hospitality items for our staff.
To become at PTO volunteer, please email pwspto@yahoo.com or fill out this form. Check out PWS PTO on Facebook.
Working together, we can make PWS a great place for kids to learn.

A message from Assistant Principal Callie Harris
Catching up with Callie
Hello, Pray-Woodman!
I hope that you and your family have enjoyed this warmer weather together! I know that any outdoor time in the winter is precious to my family. This month I thought I would tell you a little bit about our district and school goals and how we are working hard to achieve them.
One of our goals is to ensure that all students receive ninety minutes of core reading instruction and sixty minutes of core math instruction daily. All of the core curriculum is based on research and best practices in education.
Another goal we are working on addresses tiered support. Students receive 60 minutes of tailored instruction daily to meet their individual needs. During this time, we use multiple data sources to help us make decisions about what students are working on. Students will shift from classroom to classroom as we make groups smaller and tailor-made just for them.
This part of the year is exciting, as we will get to measure our success. These include classroom assessments, FastBridge data, and state assessments at the end of March and early April for our third grade students. It’s exciting to see and hear about all the progress they make!

Jump Rope Extravaganza: Jumping into action! Our students have been mastering the art of jumping rope! From basic jumps to more complex routines, they've been developing coordination, rhythm, and cardiovascular fitness. We've witnessed impressive progress and enthusiasm as they
skip, hop, and jump their way to success.
Encourage your child to practice at home; it's a fantastic way to stay active and have
fun together as a family!
Wishing you a wonderful end to February and a fantastic start to March!

Nurse Katie News
Hello, Pray-Woodman Families!
Nurse Katie, here! I hope everyone is staying healthy and feeling well! As always, we are seeing many different illnesses in the health room. Please keep your child home if they are running a fever of 100.1 or greater or feeling sick.
We need your help to keep our health room running smoothly! If your kiddos are growing out of their clothes, please keep us in mind! We always need clothing, especially pants—sizes 4/5, 6/7, etc.—for both boys and girls.
I would also like to request that each student have an extra set of clothing, no matter what grade, in their backpack in the event it is needed. We have had a lot of students falling in puddles, food spills, slipping in mud, etc. lately, and we just don't have enough clothing to give to every student. If we loan a piece of our clothing to your child, please wash the item and return it so we can have it for the next student in need. Thank you all so much for understanding!
Here is our wishlist if anyone would like to donate to help support the health room and nursing services. Thank you all in advance, and have a great week!

Please reach out now if you have questions or concerns for your child regarding teacher placement for next year. We are available to meet with you during parent-teacher conferences! As always, we are here to partner with you for the success of your student. Please call or email us if you have any questions or concerns.
