Dear Students & Families,
We had an amazing Ski Day today! We had the biggest turnout in recent memory. Our students raised about $1000 for cancer research via a raffle; thank you to our generous community for help with the prizes. We also had a rousing Volleyball game where the Seniors were victorious, and a great day was had by all. I want to thank Tameira Wilson for her tireless efforts to run an inclusive and exciting day; I also want to thank all of our Skico partners who generously donated lift tickets, opened two mountains to our students and staff, and even helped with equipment for our novice skiers. We are all so lucky to call Aspen home.
IB Spotlight
Tomas Franceschi and Deena Tehrani led a Skier TV segment last week on Mother Language Day. Students identified multilingualism at AHS and interviewed students throughout the school who have a variety of first languages. Students’ first languages at AHS include: Amharic, Arabic, Bosnian, Cantonese, Czech, Farsi, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, and Ukrainian.
IB CAS Project
AHS Speaker Series: Learn From Successful Entrepreneurs, was created by IB Business students, Oliver Auvray, Paul Anzalone, Jackson Rumbaugh, and Zachary Loeb, for their IB CAS Project. They invite business leaders from our community to speak and present during lunch. Last week was another success as Ben Silverman (Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning media entrepreneur and visionary producer behind The Office) came to speak to the group of about 80 students and staff.
Skier Spotlight
Congratulations to our Girls’ & Boys’ Alpine Head Coach, Jennifer Morandi-Benson! She was awarded the Alpine League Coach of the year AND the CHSSA Alpine Coach of the Year. Thank you, Jen, for all that you do for students on and off the hill!

Community Baskets
Last fall we implemented a free community breakfast program for our students. This program was made possible by a small grant from the City of Aspen specifically for student breakfast. We only have a certain amount of items per day budgeted.
The breakfast snacks are set up outside the AHS kitchen in the commons for students to grab with no stigma attached. It has been a very successful program for our students. We run out every day.
If you would like help navigating resources to access food or economical assistance, please contact Aspen Family Connections on 970-205-7025
Thank you for supporting our students!

JUNIORS:
Free SAT Test Prep this week & next week!
All juniors will take the Schoolday SAT on Monday, April 21st as part of state-mandated testing requirements. This will be a digital test, and students will use their school-issued Chromebooks. As students need a certain minimum score to graduate high school in Colorado, we are offering special test prep sessions (required) for all juniors during their SET class this week, and also optional small group tutoring sessions next Wednesday and Thursday during lunch in the Seminar Room.
In addition to the test prep at school, we recommend students take at least one practice test via CollegeBoard's Bluebook App (which is installed on each student's school-issued Chromebook). Reach out to your Post-Secondary Counselor to get the Bluebook access codes you need to take a practice test on your Chromebook.
Registration Now Open! College Application Case Study Program
Nearly 40 college admissions reps are coming to the College Application Case Study on Wednesday, April 16th, from 6-8pm. Juniors and their parents will learn how admissions committees review applications and make decisions. The Case Study Program is followed by a college mini fair where juniors can meet 1:1 with the admissions reps. Project Graduation, Class of 2025!
Project Graduation Fundraising Links
The tradition of Project Graduation began in 1989 to provide a safe and fun experience on the evening of graduation. This event is only possible with your help.
Project Graduation is largely funded by the senior class parents. As always, our objective is to keep this a free event for our seniors. To do this, we need to raise $44,000. Our goal is for 100% participation and support from our senior class parents. No donation of money or time is too small or too big. We thank you in advance for your donations and know our students will also be extremely appreciative, when they arrive at the ARC on May 31st.
You can donate online: https://www.successfund.com/AHS2025projectgraduation
You may also donate by logging into your AHS E-funds account or bring a check, payable to Aspen High School Project Graduation, to the High School front office. Checks can also be mailed to: Aspen High School Project Graduation, 0235 High School Road, Aspen, CO 81611.
If you would like more information about specific underwriting opportunities or would like to join one of our planning committees, please email aspenprojectgraduation@aspenk12.net.
