I hope you all had a great Christmas break with family and friends! I am hearing from quite a few people who experienced the flu or other challenges during the holidays, which is never desired. Holidays are great, but when the routines change and challenges arise, the holidays can also be a challenging time.

At times like these, I am thankful for our staff and their dedication to teach students the class/school routines, back in the Fall. Today, is our first day back at school and the routines are working very well to help students get back into their school day. Students know what to do, where to be, and how to participate in school life.

I don't know about you, but often adults also thrive with good routines. I hope your New Year has begun with much hope for a wonderful year. I hope all of our routines will promote safety, health, learning and growth for all of us. Thanks for all of your support and I look forward to an exciting 2025 with you all!

Kindergarten registration for HSD is open for children born in 2020. Registration is done online so follow this link to get started: https://hsd.ca/schools/student-registration/

Please pass this information on to friends and neighbours who might be eligible for kindergarten in fall. If you have any questions, you can call the school at 204-434-6165.

Our Winter Fun Days event will take place on Jan. 23 and 24. The main day will be Jan. 23, when the most classes are running, with a follow up day for KLW1 on Jan. 24. We will have a variety of outdoor activities for the students to enjoy during these days. The South Oaks PAC has some exciting treats in store for the students as part of this special event. Please make sure your child comes to school dressed for the weather. We will follow our cold weather policy (and common sense) to ensure that students are safe if the weather is very cold. We look forward to some outdoor Winter Fun!

We have the place for you!

Come and visit us for a program filled with laughter, songs, crafts, stories, and a snack! We are in hut 2 at South Oaks School on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 am to 11:30 am. Just look for the sign in the door’s window!

Can’t make it for the whole 2 and a half hours? That’s fine with us! We are drop-in and you are always welcome to come late or leave early if that is what is best for you.

Infants are more than welcome and we cannot wait to meet you and your child(ren)!

Parents are required to stay with their child(ren). We are a free program and pre-registration is not required. Please bring indoor footwear during these snowy months!
