Principal's Message
Happy Friday!
I hope everyone had an amazing Spring Break last week. This week, we are back into the swing of things at Hoffman.
IAR - This week, students started taking the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR), our state standardized test. In Illinois, students in 3rd through 8th grade take the IAR and are assessed in English Language Arts and Math. IAR testing will continue over the next 2 weeks. I've been impressed with how focused students have been taking the IAR so far.
Family Input Letter - Earlier today, I sent out a family input letter to current 3rd and 4th grade families. Later this month, our school team will begin creating class rosters for next year.If you have any special concerns as a parent/guardian about the placement of your child, please share these via email to llarmee@glenview34.org by Friday, April 18th, 2025. Please know that we consider this input seriously, but we cannot guarantee that all requests can be honored. We kindly ask that parents NOT make special requests for teachers.
PTA Meeting Rescheduled for 4/11 - The PTA meeting that was scheduled for today (4/4) has been rescheduled for next Friday 4/11. The PTA meeting will take place at Hoffman, in my office at 9:30 AM.

A Note From Our Student "Principal for the Day" - Olivia P.
Hi! My name is Olivia and today, I was principal for the afternoon. I found that being a principal is not easy. I helped Mr. Larmee supervise recess and lunch, I observed teachers and gave them comments, and made sure the school ran smoothly. Today, I found that our teachers put a lot of energy into their teaching! Their students were being calm and focused. I found out that Hoffman is a place where lots of kids from different cultures learn new things!
National Child Abuse Prevention Month
April is National Child Abuse Prevention month. The Child Welfare Information Gateway website, https://www.childwelfare.gov/topics/preventing/preventionmonth/ , states that this month recognizes the importance of families and communities working together to strengthen families to prevent child abuse and neglect. Earlier in the school year, your child received information on body safety which covered boundaries, body parts, safe vs. unsafe touch, what you should do if you have a body emergency and when it’s ok to keep secrets and when you should tell someone about an unsafe secret.
The Committee for Children (provider of the SEL program Second Step) has created information for parents on how to have ongoing conversations with your children about body safety. The Hot Chocolate Talk campaign is a public awareness campaign designed to help families navigate conversations about child sexual abuse. Our research-based how-to guides and free online resources teach simple, age-appropriate body safety rules and help families create a sense of warmth and comfort when talking about serious topics.Click on the links below for more information on how you can have a “Hot Chocolate Talk” with your child today.
