The Raider Lead
The Raider Lead: Setember 2023
Welcome to "The Raider Lead" Newsletter
A Message from the Principal
Hello, Raider Family,
Welcome to the September edition of the Raider Lead school newsletter! Our theme for the schoolyear is: HPEM-- where leadership shines! Each month, please look forward to all the ways that our students, teachers, and staff and letting their lights shine brightly as they share their gifts, talents, and leadership skills.
We will be studying Habit 2 this month: Begin with the End in Mind. To Begin With the End in Mind means to start every endeavor with clearly defined outcomes. This relies on our ability
to envision, see potential, and create with our mind what we cannot presently see with our eyes.
To Begin With the End in Mind:
1. Define outcomes before you act.
2. Create and live by a personal mission statement.
You can learn more about Habit 2 at home by exploring the Home Habit Huddle activity below.
Our first iReady diagnostic assessments have been completed. We will be sharing the results of those assessments with you during our Goal Signing night on September 7th. Students and teachers have been working hard to get leadership binders started so that you can see their progress and share your input on the goals that are being set for the year. Be sure to review the BIG ROCKS calendar below. Several dates have been changed due to the inclement weather that impacted our school week last week.
Let's begin with the end in mind this month as we let our lights shine!
Inspiring life-ready leaders!

Cognia Family Survey (Please Complete Now!)
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Our school values input from our families. You are an important partner as we work to continually improve our academic programs, communication, the culture of the school and overall experience for students and their families. In order to gather your feedback, we would like for you to complete a Cognia survey. Our school district is accredited through Cognia, so the surveys provide Cognia and our district in-depth knowledge to help us reach accreditation.
Information on the Cognia Surveys:
You will select the school that your child attends.
If you have children who attend more than one school, complete one for each school you have children attending.
If you have more than one child attending the same school, complete only one survey based on your experiences with your oldest child at the school.
The survey can be taken in the following languages: English, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese and Arabic.
You may complete the survey on your smartphone or computer.
All responses are anonymous.
Surveys take 15-30 minutes to complete.
The survey will close on September 29 th.
The survey link is included below, along with a QR Code for your convenience. If you have any questions regarding the survey, please do not hesitate to contact the school or Dr. Belinda Cain, Assistant Superintendent, at 843-493-2502 or bcain@fsd2.org.

Attendance is Crucial to Student Success!
Average for Absences for the Month
Research shows that students who are chronically absent from school perform much lower academically than their peers. Student attendance is critically important to student academic achievement. Please make every effort to ensure that your student(s) are at school on time each day ready to learn!
In August, our average for absences was 6%. Our attendance goal for average absences in September is 5% or less. Keep up the great work, Raider families!
