Dear Olmito Elementary Families,
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our teachers feel incredibly loved and appreciated during Teacher Appreciation Week! Your thoughtful gestures, kind words, and generous support truly made a difference and reminded our educators how valued they are in our school community. We are so grateful for the partnership we share with you.
As we approach the final weeks of the school year, we have many exciting events and celebrations coming up. Please take a moment to review the important updates below:
1) End of Year Awards Ceremonies 🏆🌟
Our End of Year Awards ceremonies will take place this week. Please see the flyer below for your child’s ceremony date and time. Arrive early to allow time for parking!
📌 Note: Due to space limitations, PreK–4th grade students may have up to 2 guests attend. Thank you for your understanding!
2) MAP Growth Testing (Kinder - 2nd Grade Dual Language) 🎯📈
Our Dual Language students in Kinder through 2nd grade will continue their MAP Growth Reading Spanish assessments this week. This assessment helps us measure growth in Spanish reading skills.
3) AR Pizza Pachanga 🍕📚
Students in 1st–5th grade who met their AR goal for the 4th nine weeks will celebrate with a Pizza Pachanga on Monday afternoon, May 12, 2025. 🎉 Way to go, readers!
4) Field Days – Continue This Week! 🎽😎
Get ready for more fun! Field Days continue for the following grade levels:
📅 Tuesday, May 13 – 3rd Grade
📅 Wednesday, May 14 – 4th Grade / UALU
📅 Thursday, May 15 – 5th Grade
📅 Friday, May 16 – 2nd Grade
👟 A few friendly reminders from Coach Araiza:
• Wear athletic clothing (no cut-off shirts, spaghetti straps, or short shorts)
• Bring a change of clothes and small towel
• Apply sunscreen at home
• Bring a labeled water container with ice
• Hats, caps, and sunglasses are allowed
5) PTA Mother Son Dance – Tickets ON SALE NOW UNTIL WEDNESDAY 🌠💫
Join us for our final PTA dance of the year! The Mother Son Dance will take place on Friday, May 16 from 5:00–7:00 PM in the OES Cafeteria. Moms, aunts, grandmas, or special female figures are welcome to attend with their male student(s). Tickets are CASH ONLY (EXACT CHANGE) and on sale in the Front Office from 7:15 AM–4:00 PM through Wednesday, May 14. (See flyer below for pricing details)
6) AR Scholars Luncheon 📚🍝🎂
On Friday, May 16, students who reached their word count goals through Accelerated Reader will be honored with a special luncheon featuring Olive Garden and Nothing Bundt Cakes!

🎓 Masters – 2,000,000+
🎓 Doctorate – 3,000,000+

7) Yearbook Update ⚠️👀
Yearbooks are on the way! If you missed the online sale, we have 38 extra yearbooks available. Starting Monday, May 12 at 7:30 AM, families may stop by the front office to purchase one for $21 (CASH ONLY / EXACT CHANGE). Once we sell out, no extras will be available.
