Message from Mrs. Shostachuk
Dear Central Road Families,
December has arrived much sooner than we anticipated! As we dive into the final weeks of the year, we find ourselves bustling with activity, with only two weeks remaining until winter break. We understand this time of year can be quite hectic, but we encourage everyone to prioritize self-care and to savor the joy of the winter holiday season. We truly appreciate your commitment to preserving the spirit of teaching and learning during this festive season. As we approach the conclusion of the 2024 school year in the upcoming weeks, we want to express our heartfelt appreciation for the opportunity to collaborate with your children. It has truly been a rewarding experience for us, and we consider ourselves fortunate to be part of their educational journey.
We are also happy to share that our holiday shop was a success this year! The event brought together our school community in a festive spirit, and it could not have been accomplished without the hard work and dedication of many. A special thank you goes out to Mrs. Garibaldi and all of our parent volunteers who played a pivotal role in the planning and execution of this event.
Thank you for taking time to read our communication. If you have any questions or concerns related to the information shared, please feel free to reach out at any time. We too thank you in advance for your flexibility, patience, and partnership. Our door(s) continue to always be open to listen and work together. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday, December 9th.
Mrs. Shostachuk

1st Trimester Progress Reports
Students in grades K-5 have successfully concluded their first trimester as of November 22nd. We are pleased to inform parents that progress reports will be accessible for viewing starting December 13th after 3:00 PM. Throughout the first trimester, our students demonstrated remarkable effort and dedication in their studies. As we transition into the second trimester, we anticipate continued growth and learning for all our students. Thank you for your support as we embark on this next phase of the academic year.
Wolfie Shop
We are VERY excited to host our first school store for the year (Wolfie Shop) this upcoming Tuesday and Wednesday. Students will be able to "shop" using their hard earned CBGs. Students have been earning CBGs since the beginning of our school year when displaying hard work, respect, responsibility and safety. We take great pleasure in recognizing and rewarding our students for their positive behavior. It is important for us to celebrate their positive actions as this not only reinforces good conduct but also fosters a supportive learning environment. By acknowledging their efforts, we aim to encourage all students to continue demonstrating safe, respectful and responsible behavior. Happy shopping to all!
December: Good Habits Start with Daily Attendance!
Did you know? Daily attendance builds good habits for the future.
Tip: Create a family calendar to track school days and events. Aim for 9 or fewer absences for academic success!
Highlighting Yoga Club at Central Road
Yoga Club will be offered to all CR students this year!
Trimester 1: 4th and 5th Graders
Trimester 2: 2nd and 3rd Graders
Trimester 3: Kindergarten and 1st Graders
The goal of yoga club is to help students reduce stress, improve focus, increase flexibility, and boost energy levels. Students will learn through SEL mindfulness activities, books, and games.
During our trimester, fifth graders learned strategies through mindful movement that included chair yoga, mats, and blocks. We also created calm bottles to help reduce our stress levels. These students did an incredible job and looked forward to Yoga Club each week! Thank you Mrs. Fink and Mrs. Ackley for hosting Yoga Club.
Highlighting Ukelele Club at Central Road
We are excited to offer a wide range of clubs at Central Road. 4th grade ukulele club meets every Wednesday in the music room from 12:20-12:40pm. 3rd grade meets every Friday at the same time. The students are learning to read pitches and find their location on the instrument. Currently, we are playing individual strings and pitches so we practice how to put our fingers on a string in a strong manner so the string will vibrate. In January, we will start incorporating chords and strumming which requires more finger strength. Attached are two videos we made for morning announcements to display our progress for our school and classmates. Thank you to Mrs. Morris for hosting ukulele club. Keep up the good work, CR Wolves!
Information about ACCESS TESTING
Students who currently qualify for English Language (EL) services will be taking the Access Test in early 2025. Access testing will take place in January 2025 & February 2025 for all District 15 students who qualify. Additional information regarding the ACCESS test can be found at https://wida.wisc.edu/resources/what-access-ells. Access letters are listed below for parent review. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Wagner @wagnera@ccsd15.net.
Inclement Weather Plan Reminder
The weather is getting colder. Please note students will go outside for recess each day as long as we can. It is important to prepare for the changing weather. Please ensure that students come to school equipped with appropriate winter gear, such as warm jackets, snowpants, boots, coats, hats, and gloves as needed. The arrival of winter weather necessitates these preparations to keep our students warm and comfortable while they enjoy their time outdoors.
As we also approach the colder months, please take a moment to review the District’s Inclement Weather Plan. In addition to the inclement weather plan, there is also a severe cold response plan in the event that this winter brings with it the extreme wind chills. Fingers crossed for a mild fall and winter – but either way…stay warm out there!
