We are pleased to announce our upcoming Martin Luther King Jr. Assembly. We will honor Dr. King’s legacy with special guest, Chris Singleton.

Chris Singleton is a former professional baseball player and motivational speaker who, since the 2015 Mother Emmanuel shooting in Charleston, SC, has committed his life to love, unity, and forgiveness. His message resonates very closely with Dr. King’s messages of non-violence and reconciliation. He is great addition to this year’s assembly.

Chris Singleton and Dr. King had a mission to spread messages of non-violence and love and unity to everybody that they could. We hope here at Eckstein that the message sticks with the students and they can honor the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.

*The assembly is on Friday, January 17th, 2025, and on that day we will be following the AM assembly bell schedule below. While this event is for Eckstein students and staff, we wanted to share details with as part of our commitment to create a community of understanding and inclusion.

Period 1: 9:50 AM – 10:40 AM

Period 2: 10:45 AM – 11:35 AM

Period 4: 11:40 AM – 1:00 PM

1st lunch: 11:35 – 12:05 PM (class: 12:10 – 1:00 PM)

2nd lunch: 12:30 PM – 1:00 PM (class: 11:40 – 12:30)

Hello Eckstein Families! Homeroom teachers will soon be reaching out to you to schedule a Student Led Conference on March 27, 2025.This is a NON-SCHOOL day for Eckstein students ONLY, so that we can hold these conferences. Your student will have the opportunity to share with you in a formal setting, their goals, accomplishments, and areas of growth. Please look for a message from homeroom teachers and sign up for a time on that day for you and your student to come to school for the conference. Remember, these are STUDENT Led, and teachers are only hosts this day. We look forward to seeing you March 27!

Submissions are open now until, Monday, January 20th. . Please only submit 1 photo. Be sure to include the student's first and last name.

This year Eckstein will be hosting basketball games. We are looking for three people to staff the games. We need a gym manager, clock operator and score keeper. The gym manager needs to be at least 21 years old, while the other two positions can be high school students. Students can either earn volunteer hours or get paid. Games are held on Saturdays in the Eckstein gym. Please reach out to Derek Grandbois - djgrandbois@seattleschools.org. All three positions are paid.

Here are some reminders about Attendance.

Showing up for school has a huge impact on a student's academic success. Even as children grow older and more independent, families play a key role in making sure students get to school every day and understand why attendance is so important for success in school and on the job.

You can use the Source to check your students’ attendance record. You can see all absences and lates that your student has accrued since the first day of school. We encourage you to check in with your student and review their attendance record together!

Report an absence: Parent/Guardian must contact attendance office by phone call, email or note with the following information:

• Student name
• Parent/Guardian name and phone number
• Date of absence
• Reason for absence

Vacation: Students must complete and submit a pre-Planned excuse absence form prior to the absence. Forms are available in the attendance office.

Arriving Late to School:

• Parent/Guardian must notify the school of a late arrival with a phone call, email or note
• Students must check into the attendance office when they arrive late to school. They will receive a pass to the classroom

Leaving School Early:

• Parent/Guardian must notify school by phone call, email or note of the early dismissal
• Students will receive an early dismissal slip from the attendance office and must sign out before leaving the building

Nathan Hale High School Family Information Nights

We invite and encourage families who will be assigned to NHHS next year to attend our information evening in order to get a head start on transition to high school. We also welcome families who are assigned to another school but are interested in NHHS and are considering going through the Open Enrollment process.
