Meadows Message from Mrs. Krz
November 22, 2024
Dear Meadows Community,
What a wonderful week we had at Meadows! We celebrated our first International Friendsgiving Day in the cafeteria on Wednesday, and kids are already asking to do it again! Please be sure to check out the photos and videos from the event on our school Instagram account.
We also honored some fourth grade students who behaved heroically last week. A student was eating her lunch, but her food went down the wrong way. Luckily, she was very near adults and her fellow girl scouts from Troop 10885, who quickly moved to action. The girls were all trained for this very thing two years ago in second grade during one of their meetings. (A Meadows father was the one who trained them to do the Heimlich maneuver!) One of the girl scouts actually performed the maneuver on the choking student, and it worked so well that when the nearby adult came to help, the food was already dislodged. We honored the students by inviting our local Manhattan Beach Fire Department to give them a certificate during our fire drill this week. What a story!

E-bike Training for Students in Grade 4 and 5
Starting on December 9, if your child in grades 4 or 5 rides an e-bike to school, it must have the approved MBUSD-certified sticker displayed on their e-bike to be permitted to park on school grounds.
To receive this sticker, students must complete a District-approved e-bike certification course through E-Bike Sense or PedalAce. Without this certification, students will not be allowed to bring or park their e-bikes on campus, and any e-bike found without a sticker will be held for parent pick-up. Private course options remain available with E-Bike Sense (in-person) and PedalAce (online), and free District-sponsored classes will again be offered in January.
Here is the link to register privately for the in-person E-Bike Sense course. Please use the discount code MBUSD25 to receive a 25% discount available to MBUSD families.
Here is the link to register for the online PedalAce course. This course is offered at a 50% discount.
District-sponsored classes are still open for these grades from November 2 through December 9. If your student has already completed or will complete a private class through PedalAce and E-Bike Sense, please submit their certificate of completion to the front office as soon as possible. Once verified, a sticker will be issued to immediately be placed on the e-bike. Certificates will be cross-referenced with lists provided to the school by PedalAce and E-Bike Sense.
